To be fair: He betrayed his mentor because he was blocking research that could save Viktor’s life. He wanted to share the credit with Victor but Victor refused Victor is obsessed and works any time he isn’t sleeping or dying of tuberculosis so Victor is working while Jayce is doing pretty much anything.

I really dont see how people are having an issue with Jayce. Everything hes done has been completely justified and hes been shown to have true compassion for Viktor as well other characters.

I have no idea why people feel like Jayce is a shitty friend: At the Beginning of act 2 he invites Viktor to be at the spotlight with him and takes the decision that Heimer wants. Then, why did he betray the Donger after taking his side? Out of desperation due to Viktor's state! How is that not comprehensible?

Viktor became my favorite champion after watching arcane, in the series he has the most enjoyable character, and playing him in league is very calming and overall great.

Jayce did a lot of bad things but making heimerdinger leave the council was to help Viktor.

People give jayce a bad rep. Pretty much every decision he has made so far has been completely selfless. From offering to pause his lifes work to ensure piltover's safety to voting his mentor out of the council because he was standing in the way of saving viktor. People give him shit for playing politics even tho it's made clear to us that his moral compass is so finely tuned that he creates enemies everywhere, meaning he has to start playing politics if he wants to keep himself alive

Viktor is superior in every way. Jayce owes his life and work to him.

I like both of them, to me they are very similar people just in very different circumstances. Jayce is getting more than he ever wanted, but has 0 idea how to handle it. You can see him changing his mind a lot throughout the show coz he is treating politics like science, he is trying to find the correct formula for a good world..but just like in science - experiments can blow up in your face. Viktor is doing the same.

I just realised that Jayce is like Mr. Fantastic/ Iron Man while Viktor is basically Dr. Doom

I really feel sorry for viktor, one scene that pretty much captures him as a person is when he was a child, he built a boat toy which he attempted to chase, but since he's a cripple he tripped and didnt catch up to it. I think it symbolizes a lot of his decisions in the series, he is a sick man who wants to perfect his inventions, he wants to do amazing things, but because he has these health problems it holds him back significantly, he always feels rushed, as if he is chasing something that he could never catch up to.

Yo Jayce ain't a bad friend. He gets all the credits for the hextech because he is the one who started it, he's the face of the operation because he has a marketable face (you know that square jaw is what the public want) and Viktor clearly does not care for fame nor recognition, he wants to help people. He's in a very tough place having to balance his ideals with the harsh reality of the ruling class being hypocritical jackasses who only care for their fortune. They do have a different vision of what Hextech should be but other than that on the friendship department they are doing good for now

Jayce seems like a very normal dude. He really wanted to do his stuff hextech research, then when he realised it would be used for arms he retracted from showing it on stage even with his allies pressure. He didn't have much choice in making deals with hextech later on, he would just get removed from the business and wouldn't have any influence over it. He has to play the game to some extend. He still puts in work to ensure the safety. The romance seems like the lady just manipulates him, but he really just wants emotional support. Hes really the closest to every human, balancing between logic and emotions. He acknowledges the dangers of hextech but isn't willing to put it over his friends life.

Victor is such an inspiring character. He is extraordinarily gifted, hardworking, ambitious and ready to give his all to people for the good, but his own health simply does not give him enough time... No, of course he will survive, thanks to magic and technology, but if you forget about it... His character deserves more admiration and sympathy :')

Not really tho. - Jayce included Viktor from the very beginning - "our hextech". He asked Viktor to go on stage with him just like Viktor is invited to all of the parties. It's Viktor who wanted non of those. - He "betrayed" Heimerdinger for the sake of saving Viktor. He didn't do it because he wanted to - remember when Viktor made the discovery that Hextech can adapt or w/e, Jayce's first suggestion was to loop in Heimerdinger who could help. Just like he didn't reveal the Hexclaw and lazer during his previous speech, because he followed Heimerdinger's advise. He even agreed to take blame after the hextech was stolen by Jinx and said he agrees for all hextech technology to be suspended. Really not focused only on himself, esp after they made him a chairman (which he didn't ask for) and he tried sorting out the whole conspiracy mess with the police, give Cait a post after she got fired etc. - Does acknowledge help, as already stated with Viktor. - Viktor has love - both from Jayce, from the assistant that literally wanted to spend time with him. - Has support from the above & from Heimer, who comforted him after the hospital scene. - He did "betray" Heimer when he went behind his back to support Jayce's hextech idea. And who knows how things will turn out now after his visit with Singed. - His motivations are clear, he's interested in progress & helping those in need asap; that's why he's not accepted the love from his assistant, Jayce's invitations to the podium and attendance to parties - he doesn't care about social life as much. It's his choice. They all extended a hand to him. He just has other priorities.

I wonder how they incorporate Blitzcrank's creation into his new Arcane lore. Originally in his release lore he was THE creator of blitz. Then credit for it was stolen from him by some "Professor". So far no professor was introduced. There was almost no hints on Vik's "Glorious evolution" too, expect his signature third hand as new invetion. Nonthanless it seems to going to be better origin story than current one on League's website. It was always odd to me that he went full robotisation because of his 1 stolen creation. Now it's more plausible to see him going into "revolution". Even despite "deadly disease" being main motivating factor trope.

I knew Viktor as a character before Arcane. But I never realised how much I loved the mentality behind the ideas Viktor has until I finished Arcane. Now I love the machine more than the man.

I don’t agree with your Take on Jayce. I mean he worked hard too, without him there won’t be any progress. Granted Viktor helped him a lot. He betrayed his teacher in order to get a chance to save Viktor, he did it by loyalty towards Viktor. I mean he had no issue with delaying his progress as his master suggested it. But with Viktor’s life in line he couldn’t listen him anymore.

Jayce did care about viktor. He always gives him credit too, he said to viktor "our hextech dream". And jayce did not let heimerdinger destroy the hexcore too since he knows this will save viktor's life. So no he is not selfish. Maybe in the future though?

Tbh I totally didn't know anything about Jayce's and Vik's lore pre arcane. Seeing this now... I didn't expect Viktor but I like him the most so far out of all Arcane characters.

I will say, I love how jarce evolved with arcane (from his og lore, to his changes IN the show) and for all the shit he gets on being "typical chad" vibes, he was the one who believed in viktor, he was the one who was there so he didnt kill himself, and several times he tried to reach out to help viktor and give him some love/limelight, and he always respected his opinions and thoughts. Im glad they were there for eachother, even if I know it can end well, I imagine both think of the other as one of their only "true friends" (altho it looks like it is/will fall apart as they lose faith in eachother)

I don't get the Jayce hate. He outs Heimerdinger from the council not for personal gain but to make sure he cannot stop them using the hexcore to save Viktor's life, once he discovered Viktor's terminal illness every action he took was in effort to save Viktor and even when he ousted Heimer from the council you could see doing so was mortifying him, to do that to his friend and mentor truly hurt him. Even with his hextech he has abided Heimerdinger's judgement in not rushing it, only going against Heimer's wisdom in regards of a device that could save Viktor's life.
