Today we are going to visit the city.
It is a small town that is on the border with Spain. The border with Spain runs along the river. As I saw walking through this town, the Spanish language prevails. Since everything in Spain is closed on weekends, they all go to the Algarve region to spend the weekend.

I spent time in VRSA, in 2004 and 2006. At the fisherman's wharf, where the fisherman docked their boats, a makeshift restaurant had been set up, with a few long tables outdoors, and a charcoal grill and long fridge with the catch of the day on ice. We would arrive, choose the fish we wanted, the fisherman would grill it for us, and with a couple of bottles of deliciously chilled Alentejo white wine, we would have one hell of a meal, under the stars and the cool evening breeze. Saudades. I wonder if the fishermen have kept it going.

I can't say for sure, but there are no tables right now. There are only cafes and restaurants where you can get a good meal. I wish I could feel what you feel.

@@Walking_Portugal I went on google earth. It's a dated image, but it appears to still be there. Just north of the bus depot, on the pier facing the moored ships on the river.
