In this vlog we take you with us on a cultural outing in Malta. We've often walked passed Villa Guardamangia, but were never able to visit until now! This is where the Queen lived in her time in Malta. Afterwards we visited Fairyland in Valletta as well as had a look at the Christmas lights there. Hope you enjoy!

❝ Hi! My name is Hanneke, I'm 27 years old and originally from The Netherlands. 5 years ago I embraced the expat life when I moved to the island of Malta. I live together with my Irish boyfriend Duncan, I try to pet every street cat and I love reading books.

It was once the property of Judge Augusto Bartolo, who passed away at the age of 52 years old, during a meeting. Heart Failure caused his death. He was an ancestor that was born in the late 1880s and died in the 1930s. He was from my late Fathers side.

Mooi , gelukkig ook twee poezen. Jammer dat the Queen het huis zo heeft achtergelaten. 😀 Maar leuk om van binnen een kijkje te kunnen nemen.

Hey! When I just came to Malta I have done the hop-on-hop-off bus a couple of times. I think it's a good way to explore the island, especially nice on a sunny day! I would recommend to start early so you can get out on a number of stops and maybe even take both the North and South route. There is loads of information about the island during the ride as well. I have not often felt unsafe in Malta on my own, especially during the day. There is more catcalling than I was used to from home, but violence no (you can always bump into bad people, but that can happen anywhere in the world). Medical precautions I don't know about, I'd recommend to check with your health insurance. In Malta there is free health care for residents. I would say going out for dinner and most tourist attractions would be cheaper than in the UK. Groceries will probably be more expensive, because everything needs to be imported. Not really sure what you're looking for from your trip. But I would always visit Valletta and just wander around the little streets. Marsaxlokk has the classis fisher boats and is a very cute town. The Hagar Qim temples are a nice visit and very old and are also close to the Blue Grotte. When it's not too windy you can take a really nice boat trip there! The San Anton Gardens are super pretty around April/May. Mellieha has a nice beach and you can visit the Saint Agatha Tower (red castle). If you have enough time, visit Gozo. Victoria, Xlendi, Ta Pinu are all worth a visit!

@@hannekerd Hiya, thanks for getting back to me. In terms of going to all these places would u recommend going on tours/excursions if so which one? Best places to eat for dessert/food.

As mentioned, the hop-on-hop-off bus is a good way to get a lot of information. If you go to museums/churches it's really up to you if you like a guided tour or to explore yourself. It's always nice to have some extra information, but to be honest, I forget half of the facts I'm told afterwards 😅 I haven't done too many other excursions. Apart from maybe some boat trips. Sites like dealtoday.com.mt/ or deal.com.mt/deals.html occasionally have good deals on those. On places to eat I may be biased, but I worked for Hammett's and they have three really good restaurants in different places. Hammett's Gastro Bar in Sliema, Hammett's Macina Restaurant in Senglea and Hammett's Mestizo in St Julians. Would recommend them all!
