Actually studies show that not only does getting the vaccine make you up to three times less likely to contract the virus, it decreases your “viral load” by mitigating symptoms that are often adopted by viruses in order to increase the spread. The reason the polio vaccines can give you lifetime immunity is because of the general lack of mutation in the virus meaning it can’t sidestep the blocks the vaccine sets up in your immune system. This does not mean polio vaccines work forever though! If you are heading flying to an area with a polio outbreak and haven’t had the jab for over 10 years you maybe asked to have a booster as the vaccine wanes over time. Covid has a feature known as “mutate escape”, which is nothing new in the field of virology, as you mentioned the flu can’t be eradicated because it’s always changing, always “mutating” to “escape” the most up to date vaccine. The virus 6-12 months from now won’t resemble the virus before to the degree that it is not caught in the vaccines net. The difference between the Flu and Covid vaccines is that the Covid vaccines have an efficacy of up to 90%, whereas flu vaccines tend to have an effectiveness of 40-50%. Unvaxxed people are far more likely to be hospitalised and die, whereas vaccinated people will display less symptoms that are vital for spreading infectious diseases like coughing and sneezing (that’s why the common cold makes you sneeze, so it can spread). Just search “vaccines make you three times less likely to contract covid” and you should find the REACT study conducted last summer.

yes, astoundingly, there are three different sets of rules for all three england domestic football competitions (fa cup, epl, and the efl-league cup). FA cup says you have to play no matter what or you forfeit (remember leyton orient) even it's your youth academy players (remember aston villa). that's why they are playing the fa cup match. the efl says you don't play if you have no available goalies. liverpool didn't have any goalies this week, so they didn't have to play.

The vaccine does work insofar as it reduces the likelihood of serious illness, but it does not prevent transmission. No one should be pressured into taking it when the argument for doing so for many individuals is weak at best. Some say better education is needed to encourage vaccine take-up, yet I have yet to hear these educative, compelling reasons. I'm a rational and open-minded person - if there was a need for myself as an individual to have the vaccine, I would, but I don't hear any genuine reasons from anybody, just pressure and coercion which I simply will not respond to. There appears to be no argument that exists as to why anyone who is fit and healthy should take it; those that are at risk ought to for their personal health, but if there is no prevention in transmission then there is no reason for anyone else to take it, only myth and conjecture. You know this to be true when arguments fail to stand on their own merit and coercive tactics are then deployed. Disturbing times, I'm afraid.
