Shaq's reaction to Klay guarding Kobe. 😂 2013 Kobe was cooking Klay and he was old. Klay was never known as a defensive stopper. Kobe cooked all defensive stoppers besides maybe Tony Allen and still averaged 25 against him.
Doug Christie was a better defender than Klay and even he couldn't stop Kobe. Klay Thompson made one All-Defensive 2nd team selection. How was he going to stop Kobe?🤣🤣 Fisher and Harper would have played full court press on Steph. Kobe is guarding Klay. So no open shots for him. Grant and Horry would have no problem with Draymond. Shaq would be Shaq.
1. All defensive selections are valuable but i would like to argue that tayshaun prince who guarded kobe wasn't voted to all defensive team until 04-05. So even though klay wasn't voted to one until 17-18, klay could probably hold his own (It would be damn near impossible so the defensive schemes will have to be on point). 2. @@21Kolb that's fair. Pretty sure 2013 Kobe crossed Klay on the floor one game and then THE Achilles game beat the warriors to put the lakers in the playoffs. In his mid to late 30s.
As the years go by I realize how much I have been underrating my guy Kobe (the guy in my PFP). What he was able to accomplish - on both ends of the floor, is one of the greatest things done since Michael Jordan retired in 2003.
@@chauvintookaknee4blm268 I see that you stepped off of the small yellow bus you took to school, I’m making the comparison that he’s been the most complete player in the league since MJ has retired since 2003. And since 2016 no player has been able to replicate his (Kobe) dominance on offense (mid/post/slashing/footwork/shooting), and defense as a player.
The media absolutely hates Kibe because he embarrassed them and proved them wrong. He’s the closest to MJ, and faced tough competition, and played for the Lakers where the lights were brightest. He’s also respected worldwide because he truly became a basketball ambassador. LeBalco cheated the game and ruined the NBA. What “GOAT” has a flop compilation?
Kobe didn't care about discourse and wouldn't participate. It's up to historians but their channels all rely upon MJ curry LBJ glaze. Or prop up next black hope. Shay can't
Accounting for the scoring averages of that time really magnifies what Kobe actually did. You said in an earlier video with today’s “defense” in the NBA, there’d literally be nothing stopping him from dropping 50-60-70 points a night whenever he chose to.
You’re wrong. Now lebron going to la with Kobe ? That would’ve gotten them 3-4 straight. They’d both be at 6 or more rings today and we’d know them as potentially the best duo ever.

@@BBallGOAT Nah, most of the LeBron stans (u) are just afraid that most ACTUAL NBA players pick Kobe over Bron and that most casual fans STILL pick Kobe over LeBron when they actually do any real scientific polling (I did one as a college project on campus in Virginia and Kobe won by a landslide even with Prime LeBron). Most MJ fans have Kobe ahead of LeBron because Kobe most exemplifies the virtues they admire most in MJ, and for the fact Kobe's the closest thing to MJ in terms of skill, fundamentals, will-power, toughness, hoops IQ, and RINGS (he and mj are the only two players to three peat while making all nba teams AND all-nba DEFENSE teams for all 3 rings, the ONLY TWO PLAYERS). Most players think Kobes better; most fans think Kobe's better. Only LeBron stans think Lebron is better than either (and the analytics nerds who invented PER to artificially prop him up and his penchant for racking up easy uncontested defensive rebounds). No ACTUAL fans who are genuine basketball fans have LeBron over Kobe. I love the fact Jokic is blowing LeBron away in all the advanced efficiency metrics so by the very criteria the Bronsexuals lie and CLAIM Lebron is greater than Kobe, Jokic, by the EXACT same criteria, is FAR greater than LeBron. Gervonta Davis said it best: "Anybody who got Lebron over Kobe is out of they cotton-picking mind." Facts. He spoke for the culture. Go to any hood. Go ask. Kobe destroys Bron. ITS WHY YOU GUYS ARE ALWAYS ON THESE CHANNELS. Kobe and MJ Fans don't go to LeBron channels because the guy is boring af to watch. No skill. Travels religiosly. Clunky jumper. Meh passing. BAD handles. Lots of uncalled carrying and pushoffs. There is no need to PROSELYTYZE on LeBalco channels because the real ones already know. Its Bron fans that simp for favor in the comments section because they know he's a media creation and ACTUAL people aren't drinking the kool-aid. Skap's channel is growing at a rate that, by this time next year, it will be VERY apparent that more people dislike LeBron more than any of the other greats. And this is despite the media fawning all over him daily. LeBron isn't a top 10 player. His fanbase is merely symptomatic of the need to mandate REAL IQ tests for participation in these discussions. Lowest IQ bunch. Explain LeBron's #1 ALL TIME LEAD IN TURNOVERS by more than 500! That's next level bad basketball. That's poor hoops IQ. A turnover is the worst play in basketball. Full stop. LeBrons ONLY case over Kobe is MVPS (voted on, politics) and SOME stats which, in a vacuum, is completely meaningless. The guy is not a better player than Kobe Bryant, anybody with eyes and/or an IQ over 110 can see this. I'm never met a high IQ person who thought LeBron was better than Kobe. And no amount of empty stat-padding (a la Westbrook) is going to change that. Luka will end his career with better per game averages ACROSS THE BOARD than LeBalco (who definitely takes EPO, shout out to Chael Sonnen), and Jokic has already passed LeBalco in PER (AD is going to pass LeBalco in PER too). Jokic has BETTER EFFICIENCY STATS than LeBalco and a ring with LESS help than any of LeBalco. LeBalco has less rings than Kobe but LeBalco stans have to pretend like empty stat-padding is more important than carrying your team to rings, so by their logic: Jokic > LeBalco; Luka > LeBalco. Better STATS. See Bron stans? The stats argument is a double-edged sword. Win. Winning is where GOAT debates begin and end. LeBalco fans think going 1-8 vs KD Warriors but averaging 33 ppg while winning 1 game in 9 attempts is 'GOAT' behavior lol. The only tactic LeBalco stans have is to OVER-EXAGGERATE and OVERRATE the level of competition LeBalco faced in the Finals to justify while all of his empty stats didnt lead to any winning. KD Warriors almost lost to Harden Rockets (went to game 7, with an INJURED CHRIS PAUL, and the Warriors only won game 7 by single digits despite Houston MISSING a franchise record 27 threes). IF Cp3 was healthy, Houston beats the KD Warriors in 7. They almost beat them WITHOUT CP3 (who, since Bronsexuals love stats so much, btw has a higher CAREER VORP than Magic Johnson - so CP3 > Magic 'bEcAuSe oF sTatS"). LeBalco went 1-8 against the same team Harden almost BEAT SINGLEHANDEDLY: 3-4 > 1-8. Harden had LESS help than LeBalco did. LeBron would win ZERO rings with Pau Gasol as his running mate; and ZERO rings with Pippen (nowhere near as great on offense as Wade or Kyrie).
Kobe in his prime had to be guarded by all-league defensive level players, like Doug Christie, Shane Battier, Bruce Bowen, Raja Bell, Tony Allen, Ruban Patterson and Shawn Marion, and almost routinely COOKED every last one of them. EVERY ONE OF THOSE GUYS I JUST NAMED WERE AT LEAST AS GOOD A PERIMETER DEFENDER AS KLAY THOMPSON. See this is why I hate athletes/former athletes interviewing athletes/former athletes. Any serious and knowledgeable interviewer would have easily refuted and challenged Draymond‘s goofy and flawed takes.
That is a great point to bring up. Everyone likes to talk about how Kobe had Shaq, but it's almost never brought up that Shaq has always had some pairing with an elite guard/forward. Similarly, I've long since thought Klay Thompson was overrated and was only propped up to make it seem like LeBron faced tougher opponents than he actually did. Suggesting that Klay could guard Kobe just further proves that point. It's laughable.
Dude you need to cover Shaq and how he rewrites history after Kobe died and now after the death of Bill Walton. Also if you haven’t touched up on LeBron saying the Miami heat wasn’t a super team and that Eric Spo was his favorite and smartest coach lmao
Kobe in his later years avg. 28 ppg, 4 apg & 5.8 rbg against Klay Thompson & GSW, including dropping 44 on them the year they became known as the NBA Champion Splash Brothers. I’m going to go out on a limb and say prime Kobe would absolutely murder Klay trying to guard him. If Bruce Bowen, Ruben Patterson, Matt Barnes, Tony Allen who were all superior defenders than Klay couldn’t stop prime Kobe, Klay would get torched.
@@chauvintookaknee4blm268 klay played well defensively, however there were better defenders than him. He was a borderline all defensive level player before his injury.
