don't be such a sentimental person frank would've hated that. However, it is nice that young people are playing Frank's music, it sucks he died so young. I'm older than him now and haven't accomplished much of anything, so who cares what I have to say.
I have to give it to these kids I tried but don't have the talent or perseverance to play at all nut I defeated myself by thinking that these men and women were uniquely talented so why bother trying? Yet here they are kids who have the confidence and talent to total dedicate themselves. Support fine arts and music. Less football more music dance and the rest of the arts. can I get an amen at least about my last point?
@@robertmassucci1 Some music is intentionally designed to evoke emotion, like in the movies when they start playing the violin music. The filmmakers know exactly what they're doing. Sometimes, a piece of music is so beautiful and/or complex that it can evoke an emotional response, like certain works by Mozart or Beethoven, for example. Or in the case of this video, just seeing these young people doing such a great job of carrying on FZ's music can elicit an emotion. I can relate to John Manning as I responded the same way. Would Frank have hated the fact that watching young amateur musicians perform his music would elicit an emotional response? I wouldn't be so sure. I would never put a person down for being emotionally sensitive. As I see it, it's just a sign that I am a human being and not a robot. If other people hate that about me, they can pound sand.
Imagine walking in to a shopping centre (or wherever this is) and randomly seeing this being played... .. for a short while you'd be forgiven for thinking that all is alright with the world... 😊
The greatest thing I've seen in a long time, seeing a younger generation paying tribute to a great like Zappa ,( and so well done) is refreshing in this era!!
Ditto, as far as I can see from what’s been said already, what lucky town gets to have you guys play outside their shopping centre car park!!! Zappa Lives on! Love your work!
Refreshing to see & hear this, it's a hard find to see a woman who knows Zappa songs let alone front a young band on Vocals, Napoleon Murphy Brock and Zappa would approve 👍
freaking awesome! I was listening to this when I was in your age some 40 years ago! FZ is simply the greatest and it warms my heart to see him beeing discovered by new generations.
Great job! At your age, my friends and I were rabid Zappa fans, but we would have struggled a bit to play Village of the Sun as well as you do here. We did play Echidna's Arf, but you guys are KILLING IT!. That is a HARD piece to play although I can still manage to get through it. I am old enough to be your Grandfather, so you youngsters have been eating your musical brain food!
When you are just starting out in a band aren't the songs usually simple, because your skills are still brand new ??? The most complicated song I ever played in a band was probably White Room, but further reflection might reveal another even more so. Apparently, Louie Louie & Gloria were TOO simple, and they had to go and learn some Zappa. I'm so happy to see youth embracing real music, played by real humans, using real instruments.
Haha! You reminded me...when I was a kid and just learning my first chords on a guitar, we thought if was cool to do "Smoke On the Water"! Yeah, it is amazing to see these young people tackling something as complex as this...and succeeding! Very impressive!
Wow.. I grew up listening to this music as a teenager in the 70's, what a fantastic on point performance, absolutely nailed it. You can see that these youngsters enjoyed the challenge and had fun doing it. Brought tears to my eyes.
Excellent job! I’d like to hear the back story of how you came to stumble across this music that was virtually unplayed on the radio (40 years ago when it came out)! I love it!
The band is great! The bassist is particularly good. Love it when kids play Franks music, which is exceptionally difficult and not easy for kids to identify with. Really killed it with Echidna's arf of you. But when are kid bands going to be told the truth that tambourine is not a real instrument unless you play other instruments too, or sing?
I've only just seen this. Absolutely brilliant. I wonder if they're still playing FZ music? Big shout to the girl (young lady now) on keyboards. I don't see enough women playing prog type stuff but she should learn from the best which was/is the queen Ruth Underwood.
Ran across this after looking up St. Alfonso's Breakfast on a whim after a nice dinner with wine... This brought back a great era of my life while at the same time showing me that I've accomplished nothing myself. So glad that these 'kids' are all over Zappa! May The Excentrifugal Forz Be With You!
Superb. I've known these two songs since they first appeared and they have a special place in my heart since I grew up in Palmdale. These kids play this almost to the letter, with half of the musicians to do so. Well done
Superb! I didn't know young people play Zappa ... I saw him do this live a couple of times back in the day, and it was almost as good as this 🙂Great work, a very heartfelt and tight tribute, nice!
