It's because it's two different categories and people get confused. It's a fruit in the biological sense, but it's a vegetable in the culinary sense. It makes sense in science to catagorize plant species by geneology and appearance. It makes sense in cooking to catagorize plants by the way they taste and how you use them. Tomatoes are savory and are used in cooking as a vegetable. You wouldn't put tomatoes in a fruit salad or a cake.

@@vashsunglasses that is very true for both sides of the perspective. There's also people that don't know what's what because they never sit down to look it up and read about it. @JoeXTheXJuggalo1
@JoeXTheXJuggalo1 Год назад
@@scar445 it's because all those little specks on the outside of the strawberry is nuts that contain a seed. It's like cashews are actually the seed of the cashew apple fruit. Also peanuts are not nuts either. They're in the pea family. Thus the name "pea"nut.

There is a theory that fruits were actually the first "agriculture" (not yet fully), as probably various pre-agricultural societies learned to let the fruit migrate with them. So human could very much help the spread of edible fruits in the history and even prehistory.

I keep forgetting how citrus fruits seem to combine so easily to make new varieties. So many other fruits are hybridized by people, but citrus fruits just seem to merrily bump into each other, and bang--new fruit! LOL.
