Viltrox's awesome autofocus portrait lens for APS-C mirrorless cameras makes it way onto Nikon Z-mount! Let's check that it arrives on the system well as I'm sure it will.

Thumbnail says 72mm. Aside of that, I really hope that Nikon puts some more fire into their APS-C sector bodies with 3rd party entrants doing the work of filling out the lens lineup. I do quite like the form factor of the z-30 as an everyday carry cam, just needs a bit of a spec bump to keep up with the likes of A6700 and fuji.

@@photo-markus equivalence, on APS an F/1.2 lens will give the same DOF/subject isolation, and total light gathering as an F/1.8 lens on FF
@pierrevilley6675
@pierrevilley6675 10 месяцев назад
@@photo-markus As you know, a 75mm F/1.2 apsc Lens will offer the same depth of field and field of view as a 112 1.8 Lens on full frame (because of the crop Factor). But few people take into account that APSC cameras have two times less sensor area than their FF counterpart, which means 2 Times the noise. So to take that into account, you have to reduce the aperture of the APSC Lens by one full stop (as if it was two times slower). And 1.8 is one stop slower than 1.2. In this case, if i take a picture at 75mm 1/160s F/1.2 ISO 2000 with a Z50, i will have the same FOV, same DOF and same noise (basically the same image) as if i took it with my Z6 and a 112mm at 1/160s F/1.8 ISO 4000.
@dobrecristianro
@dobrecristianro 8 месяцев назад
@@pierrevilley6675 You missed the physics class buddy. Stop rambling stupid and nonsense informations. "Noise" performance is not tied to the size of the sensor directly, but to the pixel density and technology of the imaging sensor. The a7RV and Sony A6700 will have identical "noise" performance, having similar pixel densities and sensor technologies. A lower pixel density camera like A7iV or even better, the Sony A9 will have indeed better "noise" performance than the a6700 because it has a lower pixel density sensor (pixels are bigger and gather more light on the a7IV and even bigger on the Sony A9).

Hi Chris, It's the wrong video for my question, but I hope you read the message. The APS-C part is missing at your Viltrox 16mm video. Or test in crop mode on the Sony 7 R III would be nice. I think this test is very important because 24mm is also an interesting focal length. I hope for another Viltrox 75 1.2 test. A comparison between Viltrox75, Sigma 65 2.0 and Samyang 75 1.8 would be nice. I think the Sigma 65 actually makes more sense because it's smaller, lighter and, as a full-frame lens, can also be used on APSC. But how does the image quality compare at APS-C body ? From Aperture 2 to 8. Thanks and greetings from Munich.

oh wow, great work viltrox! also, is it possible to override the firmware and shoot with the full sensor area, despite the image circle not meant to cover that? if you’re willing to shoot square photos, you can get more out of an APS-C lens in terms of image area on the sensor, and therefore light collection, noise performance, and background blur, by choosing the largest square area that can fit in the image circle you deem acceptable, as opposed to a 3:2 rectangle. Judging by those surprisingly good image corners, it looks like the lens has image circle to spare :)
