He was married when he started dating Amy . I’m not sure if she was married, but-she had a real struggle with her relationship with Vince , due to her faith.
I don’t think she struggled at all. The earlier videos with them when they first started becoming friends was obvious. She wanted him and I think she pursued him until she gothim. I’m sure he didn’t fight it off but her being the “good Christian girl,”and making her millions from being a Christian was very, two-faced.
@@BeMused79 Amy Grant's marriage to her first husband, Gary Chapman, was extremely unhappy before she met Vince Gill. She has never revealed the truth about the suffering she had to endure at the hands of her first husband, for the sake of her children by him. Hence she became the target of criticism in the Christian world. She said that one day the truth will be revealed, but not by her. Her first husband was also extremely jealous of her success.
@@BeMused79her husband, Gary Chapman, was a drug addict …. She stayed a long time trying to make it work . Even Christians should be allowed to be happy and not live in an abusive marriage .
Listen to Janice Oliver's (Vince Gill's wife) song "I Know Who You are" about Amy Grant pursuing her husband.... "You look so innocent, so pretty, & so smart. He sees you late at night in our bedroom in the dark. You keep appearing like some angel from afar. You can't fool me, 'cause I know who you are. I've seen you fly about & I have seen you sing. You seem so spiritual when you are on the wing. He thinks your pretty eyes shine brighter than the stars. He doesn't know who you really are. You couldn't be an angel descended from above. For angels never tear apart what God has yoked as one. And don't you know the world has had it's fill of ones like you? So fly away like God would want you to. Some day he'll realize you're not what you seem. He'll see through your disguise & then return to me. I pray for you each night as I lay in the dark. That with God's help you'll find out who you are" Amy Grant has always been about what she wants & has gone after it....her career was more important than being a wife & mother...the nanny was there for years. Her children have suffered & she destroyed 2 marriages. There's a reason that she's still in counseling with some of those children. She hurt them terribly. And I think her early marriage was hard with Gary, but he had kicked the drugs & was trying. My early marriage was just as hard, but I didn't run after another woman's husband...I dug deeper & drew closer to Jesus. I do pray for Amy Grant. I desire to see her honoring our Lord Jesus & seeking to follow His Word & not the worldly path she's chosen❤
Apparently that song, despite how it was first interpreted by listeners, was not about Amys' love for her partner or husband of that era (though it's easy to see how it can be taken as such), it is in fact, quite literally, about the love for her little baby girl.
