@@sspyrshlsx3740 Perhaps he may have figured that the ROM was made because the creators were able to hardcore hack it, we'll never know how genuine Joel's thought on this was
@@BRD-Senpai U R WRONG. Well, I am a Chinese and now I am living in Mainland China. A large amount of Chinese people can use VPN. And some of my friends even have their Facebook, RU-vid and Instagram account. If you watch some Chinese videos which has clicked more than 1 million, u will find many people using Simplified Chinese to comment. And u can find many Instagram users using simplified Chinese. In China, if you never transfer any anti-government thing from RU-vid, Facebook to Chinese website and it's nearly impossible to be investgated by Chinese government. And free VPN softwares are quite easy to get, like Lantern but it is not stable. But you can pay money to obtain stable and fast routes. In fact VPN is not legal in China but Chinese goverment never manage VPN as strict as you think. At least I've never heard anyone who was caught by police just by using VPN except he/she transfered some anti-gonverment things from foreign websites.
I'm not the only one who noticed that. A bootlegger referencing a previous bootleg. It's like referential humor developers put in their games but now it comes packaged with Chinese Windows 98 for the Famicom.
***** WAT WAAAAAAAAAAAT WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?????!!!! wat
Gotta hand it to the Chinese, though, this is amazing. Literally no one else in the world would've thought to put sprites of screenshots from a PC OS onto a system that probably couldn't even run MS-DOS, and sell it for money!
It could probably run legit msdos if you found a way to make the installer not check for system requirements. Half the performance of a 286, 2 mb ram... I'm willing to bet it could.
+Silas Reel Something similar to the C64 BASIC could run on it because the CPU is the same MOS 6502 core. Though some these specs are not too great for any real OS on the NES: CPU: Ricoh 2A03 running at ~ 1.79MHz Graphics: Ricoh 2C02 Picture Processing Unit with a resolution of 256x240 broken up into 8x8 tile segments with 12+1 colors at a time for the background and 12 for sprites. RAM: 2 kilobytes, 256 bytes of which must be used as sprite memory. The cartridge can contain extra RAM though. ROM: 32 kilobytes without mapping hardware, though even with simple hardware it would be possible to use 4 or 8 MB of ROM. It's actually doable but the cart should have a lot of extras. And with battery backed Save-RAM it could even function as an "office tool"
+za909returns As your comment is not that old and you seems to know a little bit of physical informatic stuff and everything, I may ask you: do you know why this game was made ? I mean was it a bootleg or anything ? And is it impossible for the NES to run Paint ? This game is so strange! I just wanna ask "WHY?"!
DrSavitruc It's not exatly impossible to make paint on the NES, but it would be very restrictive because the NES can only create 4 background palettes at a time. Each palette is made of 1 universal backdrop color and 3 independent ones. Every 16x16 block on the screen can only use one of the 4 background palettes, so it's not like you could use all the colors the system has available at a time, but rather a maximum of 12 + backdrop. Check the images here, you don't need to understand what the text is about wiki.nesdev.com/w/index.php/PPU_attribute_tables
for me the scariest part is that I actually DO understand Chinese characters in this and that this bootleg renders the actual names of stuff and not just some gibberish like 黧倒霉just because it looks OH SO COMPLICATED AND KOOL I don't know why but it bothers me
+WebVMan it would take too much processing power, the nes would need to be factors of a 100 more powerful to run calculator and paint, it has the power to render one of the calculator buttons but that is about it.
TRUGAMER45 A furry girl getting fucked almost as hard as Joel's OSes. I figured pornography is the best use of youtube's feature of showing avatars next to comments. Especially fetishistic porn.
[smartass comment] The half-empty painting at 0:25 happens a lot on the NES and I believe it's because of the cell coloring technique, in which the screen is divided by cells that can only contain a limited number of colors at a time. But then again, it's still kinda weird for it to happen in that part of the logo alone. And yet again, this whole thing might have taken up a lot of resources on the system, or cartridge space, or both :x
As a guy from Mainland China, the thing is quite popular among Kids during late 1990s and early 2000s, And the company invited Jackie Chan to act its TV Commercial in 1997. Of course, it is more similar to GBA and it has lots of Nitando Classic Games such As Super Mario, Contra Probotector and so on. It was popular among Kids(So it is a part of my Childhood memories)The TV commercial described it as a "Study Machine" And many parents thought it could improve their kids' study so it was sold quite a lot during that era.(Of course it is not helpful for kids' study because its functions of study are few)
8:43 - I WANT THAT SOUND. That's the most beautiful power up sound ever and I'll never be able to get it because I don't know what settings you used. Do you have this footage without you talking? Or.. did you save the settings?
4:03 It's amazing to me that, even though English is your second language, you manage to pronounce 'nuclear' correctly, whereas half of native English speakers pronounce it 'nucular'. I just find that interesting.
pause at 8:29 when theres gray static and yull see a low res face ontop of a muscular green body with demon bleeding arms................... joel......... you killed a demon
Yeah, this isn't actually Windows 98 "stripped down" for NES, they've just copied the layout of the BIOS and the startup screen and made it look like it's booting. Also, it says the processor mode is by Intel which it isn't, and that it's 233mhz, which it isn't, the NES is nowhere near that powerful. Also the full windows 98 install is around 350mb, even if it was stripped down it would still be way to big to fit on a NES cartridge, Joel's right, it's just a bunch of mimicry.
Yeah, obviously. Though these bootleggers really try sometimes. I think Joel had another bootleg that claimed to be Windows ME on NES, and somehow it had a few actual working programs, AFAIK, they had an English to Chinese translator, an actual working Paint program (just not the actual Paint), a music maker, and a "DOS" program which managed to confuse Joel, almost into thinking it was actually working.
Who could've shared this recently to attract the ire of baiters? I've noticed all of the "Joel is annoying fake douche" -type comments didn't start until recently and it's just on this video it seems.
Well, this is a personal opinion but him constantly yelling and shit is kind of annoying tbh, he's funny but he can be annoying, I'm new here though so I can't really judge.
What I find really weird about 2:58 is that the origination of that image is from another bootleg NES game called "Pokémon 4-in-1". The game was developed by Union Bond and published by YanCheng. The thing is, this NES version of Windows 98 was made by entirely different people (Bei Tongfang). So, essentially, either Bei Tongfang was paying tribute to a fellow bootlegger, or they were just ripping them off.
