With everything I know about Chaos Edition, and I admittedly don't know everything the new versions can do, the only thing I can thing of is where your gravity is sort of affected, like where Mario is pulled one direction or another, but that can't be given all the directions he was going, he wasn't facing resistance in any direction.

Definitely was a chaos thing, lower gravity and from the beginning you can see the coins hitbox are bigger, marido is collecting them easier, so yeah

I'm so confused, the Twitch chat was obviously joking but a lot of people in these comments seem to think it was actually some kind of record. He slowed down a bunch and didn't even use the main skip of dropping to the bottom immediately, so I don't see how anyone could legitimately believe he matched or beat a TAS. Also hi Kaze, you make awesome hacks. :)

The amount of coins he got was the exact same as the TAS (at the time) got from the slide (it combines that star with 100 coin star), they follow the exact same path and there are multiple frame perfect inputs required for the strat. And Vinny straight up just did those FPs unintentionally.

@@KPoWasTaken He's obviously getting more coins because of the mod, though. You can see that they have larger hitboxes, like at 0:25 at the bottom of the slide where he collects some that are nowhere close to him. I'm sure that makes most of the parts that would have been frame-perfect much easier.

As far as I can tell, he did something really cool but not actually still relevant to the game's speedrun. Maybe something runners used to theorize about, then somebody managed to tas, then they found a better skip and forgot about it. So some members of chat were genuinely impressed, some immediately assumed something groundbreaking had happened, and others immediately turned it into a joke. In any case the explanation seems way more complicated than "he did a TAS trick."

I'm not entirely sure myself but i think it's how he hits the wall at 0:06 without bonking (which would've made him fall to the void)

It was chaos edition 4.0, so honestly it probably was influenced by external factors. Still really funny to meme it up as God Gamer Vinny though as stuff like this has happened twice now.

If you haven’t given mario 64 a try, you really should. It’s a great game and there’s a ton of content from people who have dove way deeper into it than I ever will. Idk I find it interesting.

I wouldn't know for sure and am also curious about it. It's at least pretty damn impressive looking, besides the drop the brushing against barriers at the very least looks like something TAS slides have done, and the hops over gaps are not crazy but quite seamless here.
