The top seed in women's 53kg wrestling, Vinesh Phogat, went down fighting to two-time world champion Vanesa Kaladzinskaya of Belarus by fall in the quarter-final after registering a comfortable 7-1 victory over Sweden's Sofia Mattsson in the Round of 16.

Vinesh was doing well. But i guess she didn't expect her opponent to defend her so well. She should have not attacked her so early I think . vinesh is the best in her category. If opponent has defeated her its highly likely she will qualify for finals. Hope she comes back in repechage. So sad to see the real champ loose.

Could empathize with the way Vinesh would have felt having not qualified for the semi-final! The sport looks difficult to watch, imagine these wrestlers themselves being in the midst of all this! The way she defeated the Swedish was commendable who was on the aggression from the word go! But the Belarusian unfortunately got the better of her, who pounced on the opportunities provided n shattered our dreams! There must be something wrong between her and staff, according to the reports she was not convinced with the staff plans like she wore Nike outfit. Now, Vinesh should win 2 matches to win bronze if kaladzinskaya reaches the final. This is how Sakshi Malik won bronze

All these world champions and big medal contenders have failed. Hoping Bajrang Punia makes it to the finals at least. Was expecting at least 2 gold medals this time, and total medal count at 7-8 but Indian athletes have failed to handle the pressure and bring out the best at Olympics, pretty disappointing. Can't blame facilities and other things when performances of most of the gold medal contenders, best in their discipline have been shambolic. These athletes need to step up their game and perform at the biggest stage, then complain about other things.

I have noticed that we Indians and sometimes Athletes also, put themselves under pressure by claiming that they are eyeing Gold medal only. I mean being a professional athlete competing in Olympics, it's obvious that the target is Gold but there are somethings which are better not said like targeting Gold. This only create unnecessary pressure on the athlete and they succumb under the burden of their own expectations. This is what I have observed in last few Olympics.

Nd jo negative comment ker rhe hai nh , for them- bol toh aise rhe ho jaise tum logo ne apni life m everest fateh kar lia hai . She is not over hyped. We were expecting more.
