Today, I’m showcasing Vinland Saga's manga editions-the Vinland Saga Deluxe Editions and the original 2-in-1 hardcovers both released by Kodansha. In this video, I give you guys a detailed comparison of these editions, going over everything from price, design, and print quality, to the extras that make each unique, how they compare to other hardcover manga releases, and more.
I'm excited to be back, especially with a video about one of my all-time favorite series.

"For Our Farewell Is Near" will be released in its entirety in a later Deluxe Edition. It was added to a later Japanese volume of Vinland Saga (Vol. 23, I think?) so we'll be including it there.

Hey!!! So happy to be back and missed you guys! I did the exact same thing! Picked up all the way through 12 and saw these were announced. Immediately thought, well I guess I’m double-buying. I’m waiting for them to do the same with Attack on Titan after I just got all of the Colossal Editions haha Awesome that they are releasing these hardcovers. You’ll have to let me know what you think if you pick the Deluxes of Vinland Saga and good to hear from you!

The deluxe editions are always nice. However since i already have 12 of the original releases of Vinland saga it makes more sense just to continue collecting it that way. Intead of buying the same content again in a larger format and having to wait until it catches up with the original releases.

Just received mine an hour ago! I already got all the smaller hardcovers but even though I love the manga, I was never satisfied with the build, paper quality and weight. I’m still not sure wether I should sell them or keep both versions Anyway welcome back and great comparison video as always!

Thanks for your comparison videos, it's good to see editions side by side when deciding what to go for. Although I did want to point out for the Vinland Saga 2-in-1 hardcovers, it's just glued binding, not sewn. That'll be one of my reasons for eventually going for the Deluxe editions.

Welcome good to have you back after an extended hiatus very few good manga review channels left and you’re one of the originals . So honestly those square hardcover spines I HATE them almost a deal breaker for me I only have four Blade of the Immortal and that’s as far as I’ll get with the series honestly about the only “long “ series for me that tops the list is Blood On The Tracks it’s so existentially unpredictable suspenseful and surprising there’s no telling where it’s headed but it’s a sublime cautionary bittersweet tale of mental illness.

Welcome back! I'm glad the deluxe edition has some form of "cover art" inside as an extra. The main thing that always makes me hesitant for deluxe editions or omnibus or the like is I really miss having a cover to just pull off the shelf and appreciate for a moment. Omnibus and deluxe editions should have all cover art by default (Homunculus why do you hurt me!)

I started collecting Vinland Saga and only got to 2 volumes before I heard of the deluxe editions. I immediately stopped so I could wait for the Deluxe Editions to go on sale. Your video only enforced my want for the more expensive versions 😊

I binged both seasons of the anime last week, so I wanna jump into the manga to see where the anime left off. I'm thinking of getting all the 2 in 1s in one go. I love that there's different art on each of the covers. The deluxe additions are nice, but I dont wanna have to wait every other month to read one, when theres 13 2in1s already out.

I'm so happy to see another video, welcome back! Your videos got me to start collecting manga for real and are by far some of the best review content around since you often compare all the available versions of a series. Not to mention things like paper/page and print quality, seams and edges and overall feel and production quality. Death Note was my first pickup and your video was so helpful in comparing all the pros and cons with the different versions it made it so easy to make a choice for myself. Holy Donk! Those Deluxe Editions look beautiful! I may’ve read like 5 chapters and haven’t kept reading but those editions make me want to keep reading. Vinland saga is nice thus far, only reason I struggle is cuz I got burnt out on Norse Stuff from Vikings, 😅 that one season just kept going on and on and on and on

Ahhh as everyone else here has mentioned: Welcome back Kristin & Brad and also heres to an EZ breezy 2024. Thinking about it now, if you arent familiar with this somewhat hidden gem that reminds us of our lives shaping and shifting and why people occassionally need to take long breaks. WAVE! Listen to Me is that gem of a series (same author as BotImmortal) Hiroaki Samura is a true mangaka to aspire to, going from dark brutal feudal japan to contemporary modern japan and how seeing any persons slice of life is just jovial. Great insights on these edition comparisons as always. Cheers.
