Imagine the psychological torture this kid went through living in the shadows and under the "enemy" that took his father, yet eventually built himself up to be strong enough to stand among the men he so deeply hates. It's no wonder he makes decisions that we so often criticize during the show... He's physically capable, but deep down he's a broken child. We always give Askeladd's character development the prase (as it deserves) but really Thorfinn's simplicity with his layered emotions is just a byproduct of the environment he was forced to endure.
I like how Vinland saga portrays morals like ‘Killing and revenge is not the best way in life’ Even though it has cool action features, (perfect for Viking culture) the author also shows that revenge wouldn’t truly justify yourself. And what I like about Vinland Saga is the development of the main character Thorfinn. At first, he wasn’t your ideal Shonen protagonist (this is seinan but the prologue part was a more shounen esque narrative) but after he learns his mistake, he strives to become better. Personally, I think it was the best that Thorfinn didn’t get his revenge because he learns a lesson from out of it. As far as realizing that he wasted most of his life on hatred and revenge for nothing. That lesson impacts him further on the story. Congrats to Yukimura sensei for creating such a story!
You hit it on the head. Unfortunately, Thorfinn never had any other social interaction with anyone other than askeladd. Loosing him, might have been the hardest thing that ever happened to him especially since he knows that he doesn`t have anyone else to trust. Oh, there is no other world to describe how I feel regarding the announcement of season 2.
@@namelmao4231 thord realize that to be warrior doesnt always be on the battlefield, And thorfin lived his life aiming for the head of askelaad now he is looking for the purpose of his life because of the death of askelaad made him realize that
@@rmlimntd2559 Thanks, I`m working on a project regarding the whole Vinland Saga anime. Hopefully it will be released in August since it have been in the project pipeline for up to 6 months now.
Best style so far, I think this style is commonly found in animes that are now currently well known. Such animes are: Attack on Titan, Fire Force, Black Clover (maybe) and much more. I think it is a style that keep you entertained.
@@DankPlaYz oh I meant like the style of the amv it is unlike anything I have ever seen plus the use of two songs makes it incredibly interesting and fairly unique
I'm honestly a little mad. This anime got so overshadowed by Demon Slayer which was subpar at best, meanwhile Vinland Saga is such an amazing anime. One of the best imo. Thorfinn is such a broken character, went through so much pain to build himself up to get revenge but ultimately never got it. But afterwards, goes on to learn what his father meant by "A true warrior doesn't need a weapon". It's nice to see an anime that doesn't hold back on the brutality of life, and it's rather accurate portrayal of viking culture. Season 2 is gonna be a much different story from season 1.

Artorius was the legendary, possibly real, Celtic warrior that led the Celts against the Saxons when they invaded England In truth the invasions were very complicated, originating as Saxons/Angles getting rewarded with some of the land they conquered while working for Celtic kingdoms trying to screw over other Celtic kingdoms. Lots of Angles and Saxons, as well as smaller numbers of other groups, moved in to colonize the area until a war broke out between the Saxons and Celts for some reason, which resulted in Saxons controlling England and the Celts there having to either assimilate into Anglo-Saxon culture or face persecution... that's the simplified version of what we know of it. Artorius would've been a very capable, or well-known, Celtic leader or warrior against the Anglo-Saxons that ended up being mythologized due to his capability in combat, rousing speeches, good tactics or whatever it was that got him respect and acknowledgement. Notably, the Celts would've been using a lot of old Roman equipment, or weapons/gear copying the Roman style, during this war/collection of wars, while Saxons and Angles were using Viking-esque equipment, in case you ever wanted to know which is better. It's uncertain what the Celts actually thought was the case for Artorius at the time, but the first writers (monks in this period are a historian's best friend) include him being wounded in battle and that he'd come back from a paradise where he was healing and rested when the Celts needed him most. The Land to the West that Artorius was healing in could've been Ireland, a purely Celtic land that the British Celts had colonized long before and had many stories about, or it could've been the Celtic Afterlife, in which people are reborn, probably as fairies, and are later reborn back here on Earth after they die there, in which case Artorius would actually be dead, die again, and be reborn on Earth, saving the Celts during this 3rd life. Alternatively, there are many stories of beings coming from this magical Afterlife to Earth, such as fairies to cause mischief, so Artorius could be reborn there as a powerful being, or one that gets powerful, and then comes to Earth to save the Celts. If it's him dying twice and being reborn among the Celts, then Askellad could totally have been Artorius. He saved the Celts of Wales, and probably Scotland and Ireland too if Canute doesn't feel like warmongering, preventing the subjugation of any of those 3 lands until the 1200s when Edward II conquered the Welsh with an army of 15,000, among which 9,000 were Welsh... this itself was complicated as a lot of Kings/Lords (they called themselves Princes as the title of King was for whoever ruled all of Wales) immediately submitted to and sided with Edward II because they saw siding with him as a lesser evil compared to this Welsh King I forgot the name of who was trying to make all of Wales his bitch and badmouthing Edward II. There were actually 2 occasions of this, and it was the 2nd one where Edward II was like "yo fuck these Welsh guys thinking they're Artorius/King Arthur fielding armies is expensive that's it I'm in charge of this BS"... there had also been occasions like this for Edward II's father and grandfather (William the Conqueror), as well as the previous Saxon kings. There was also a lot to gain from controlling Wales because the cloth industry was kicking off and Wales had lots of sheep. He also yeeted English peeps from various parts of England into fortified towns he built there so that they could be used to slowly convert the Welsh to English culture and so he'd have immediate forces available if the Welsh rose up again, which they did. Lots of times. Edward II also attempted to subjugate Scotland and started the colonization of Ireland. Scotland was initially gonna be a merging of nations through the marriage of Edward II's eldest 8-year-old son to the 6-year-old Queen of Scotland (her dad died with no male heirs. The death of her older sister made her Queen) but she died on the way to Scotland from Norway (she was living with her mother, a sister of the King of Norway), causing a giant Scottish succession crisis where various Scottish lords actually asked Edward to pick which of 12 contestants would get the throne. Edward II picked the most spineless guy, who only had daughters, so that said guy could be manipulated while he ruled and so that Edward II could marry his son to his eldest daughter, aged 11. The Scottish didn't like this, especially not a certain someone who was another contestant for the throne and yoinked it off of the spineless guy before launching a massive series of raids on Northern England as "compensation", to which Edward II retaliated with conquering Scotland, before losing Scotland again when he was old af and his son decided to be a total retard and try to charge the Scottish with cavalry in a swamp rather than *use those longbowmen that won the English every battle against the Scottish while Edward II was in charge* that got rekked by falling into pits full of spikes. Ireland, also being colonized by the Scottish, was basically due to English nobles marrying Irish nobles and lots of succession problems happening later down the line in Edward II's reign, as well as a lot of confusion regarding who was King where in heavily disunited Ireland, with noble all crying into Edward II's ear as his eyes lit up at an excuse to conquer some land. There were Irish nobles that sided with Edward II, and others that opposed him, but Edward basically took a load of Irish land, told the nobles there "you can have as large of armies as you like and feel free to conquer Irish land for yourself" and then he ended up owning like a fifth of Ireland by his death. Yeah so that's not exactly a clear answer, with a lot of "alternatively"s, but this is basically the guy that King Arthur is probably based off of.
I`ll try to implement as much quotes as possible in the next asmv. When I was editing that video, I didn`t know what to do. I`ll try my best next time.
One of the best amv of vinland saga. Nice choice of background with the action. But I think you rushed it at the end . Anyways so good . You have my full support.
You are right, I kinda of rushed it in the end. I was passing through a rough patch, and it was taking a long time to finish. Im working on a whole vinland saga season 1 project, hopefully be finished by the end of next month.
