I had no real opinion either way on Vinnie Vincent, but after seeing this interview, I am really liking this guy. He seems to be a very nice and very honest person.
I'm a fan of Vinnie but, did those folks get their money back on the box set ? He has amazing talent but, he has made some really bad decisions. Hope he can start over.
Trouble is, threepistols, Vinnie has taken 20 years to come to the epiphany that he was in the wrong and that he totally messed up the greatest employment opportunity in his life. He's nice NOW because he's had 20 years to think about his mistakes. Vinnie was and probably IS the best guitarist that ever suited KISS, maybe even better than ACE. He was definitely the most "talented" if we count creativity and chops and songwriting skills, and he was his own "character" (The Ankh Warrior) as well. It was all there. It was just his eternal youthful idiocy (that he has gotten past now) that made him uncooperative and egotistic with his employers. Which got him fired. NOW he realizes it. But it's way too late, son!
He is a man fooling both you and himself. I SAW a webpage in 1994 where he shit all over every one and anyone he every played with, Including his Invasion people. It was a Purple and Orange website, If you look hard enuff, you can find it on the Internet Archives, or Fuckback.com or whatever. He blabbered on about how everyone he played with was SHIT, disappointed him, and he found all new giys...but nothing ever happened.
Good song writer, good guitarist and singer. That's really all we know. Creatures Like it up and Revenge has some great songs. Believe nothing more than that.
VV saved kiss for me, i know i was there listening to the music. he gave kiss a breath of fresh air. Invasion took guitar to a new height for those times
Tal Moncus I agree that Vincent's talent and dedication to the music meant a lot more to the songs and to the fans, we accepted him, maybe not so much Gene and Paul who didn't like how he looked, basically and underestimated his creative largesse and importance. The fans were more real than the old KISS members were, so whatever personality clashes may have happened with Vin (which he owns up to) it was still the major reboot of KISS when he joined them to write and record and tour. Gene and Paul were financially and creatively foolish not to keep him and keep that great band chemistry.
@@Elle-fe8pk I know plenty about her. I know she says he went for her seven-year-old kids birthday wish. I'm sure the mother had no influence on a toddlers love for Vinnie Vincent lol. And wearing the leather garter was just plain class
He is a quite brilliant musician, regardless of what people say about him. What shines through is his humanity, and God bless him for it. Good luck Vinnie.
i don't care what anybody says about him...i love vinnie and how he is such a sweet and honest guy. without him i would not have even cared to pick up a guitar
I can't believe that Vinnie came through and left it all on stage! Totally awesome! He did not disappoint! I wish I was there. So glad the group there was full of love and respect so he could open up the way he did. That was a really interesting story. I hope all the tough times are behind him and I hope he gets back into the music business.
He's a narcissist. A liar and a thief and just a strange dude.Hes up there tearing some woman down. Having said that I loved Creatures and Lick it up. I was stoked when I heard Kiss go in that direction. He he he
hirskdubbi You don’t know what you’re talking about. A narcissist has no empathy. Go look up what a narcissist is. A narcissist wouldn’t be taking care of animals like that, and have those reactions.
He says a lot of things because he wants to make cash with Gene and Paul. But that's not gonna work. Paul never liked him, Gene doesn't want to work with him.
Love Vinnie Vincent, thank you for coming back and sharing your story after so many years of being away. Truly a emotional moment watching both part one and two of you speaking out about pass history.
Two great albums for sure.. Great Songwriter, People bitch about his shredding but that was the style back then..It was a little over the top on the first Invasion album but so we're alot of other guitar players.. Great talent either way
Got goosebumps of this.. Fantastic that we got this opportinity to get to know him better, allways been sort of a mystical individual. Loved all of his contribution to the band which seemed to short at the time.
We DO love you Vinnie! Glad you are still with us, still playing guitar and still a great guy who didn't let the ugly side of the music world destroy your soul man!
This is one of the most engrossing interviews I have ever seen in my life - and it is all Vinnie. I am not even aware that the interviewer is there. I guess when you have nothing to lose you can be honest and genuine. This is definitely not your typical surface, canned interview with a rocker. Out-standing!
Vinny you are so well-spoken in public. I’m so sorry all these terrible things happened to you. I really am. Just very thankful that Paul and Gene reached out to you and gave you some work. Hope all your future days are uphill from here.
While I’m a huge KISS fan, Vinnie was before my time, so I honestly didn’t know much about him personally, other than the crazy rumors over the years. God bless him for having the courage to get up in front of the fans & tell his story. It could not have been easy, with all of the certain scrutiny. But he comes off as a very sincere, likeable guy. All the best of luck to you in the future, Vinnie!
Vinnie hop a ride on the next Kiss Kruise. Ace is there and if you go it would be an amazing line up. Kiss needs to revisit the era where you were in the band. Get out the makeup and relive the glory days again. At least do a book, Paul, Peter, Ace and Gene have made great income from books. You have an incredible story to tell.
You can't just manifest a spot on the Kiss Kruise and secure a book deal without negotiating.Vinnie has a history of not negotiating very well He should have stayed in Kiss. When he joined Kiss weren't much on the rock radar coming up after 'The Elder' and Ace's departure. He claims he wasn't paid much so that's why he left but that band wasn't exactly filling arenas when he joined. He should of stayed on board, kept writing songs and secured all his share of publishing rights. Then once (or if) the band reached a higher level of notoriety he could have left the band and resurfaced as a superstar. He should have used Kiss as a stepping stone.Maybe Gene and Paul tried to destroy his confidence while he was in the band so he wouldn't quit.He should have used the band as stepping stone.VVI I like the songs on first album but videos are retch worthy almost laughable.
Vinnie brought sooooo much to "Creatures Of The Night", "Lick It Up" & "Revenge"! SIX songs Vinnie co-wrote with Kiss were released as singles! Incredible! xoxo The Clarences
I just read about Vinnie's two wives and their deaths. That is some seriously tragic stuff and I totally understand why Vinnie had to leave the public eye for twenty years to heal. Awful, awful things to have to go through on top of the litigation for money he most likely should have received for his artistic contribution to KISS. Nothing but wishes from me for the best from here on out for Vinnie. After all that tragedy and disappointment I think he really deserves to leave this world one day in triumph.
Shaun Clifton lol bad contract damage! Dead dogs in plastic bins damage!... I am the Ankh warrior baby!!! I am a rocker a roller an out of controller!!! Watch this former Kiss employee blaze a rubber road, to identity freedom!!! Also i think from now on he should refer to Gene and Paul as the Bronze!
+brandon hill Bubba Zanetti tells me they are Not who they seem...they are full of greed, trickery, and deception. They are sent here by the Bronze to destroy our pride. Lol
I would have had a restraining order on her. Sometimes having a big heart causes the opposite effect. I hope Vinnie continues to stay connected to people, because it’s very healing. Now I’ve got to go back and listen to my Invasion album again.
It took guts to relay all that! I don't have any reason to doubt what he's saying. He is light years beyond most guitar players. When Invasion came out, I think it changed my life. It was a totally motivating album. I hope he stays healthy physically and mentally and puts something like that out again.
Got me emotional…him talking and giving his testimony about something real and something brutally honest regarding his near death experience. It’s great he’s on the other side of that.
It takes a big man to tell us his testimony, i,m sure he speaks for alot of people that have been in that same path that cant speak up. Bravo Vinnie, i applaud you, and became a new fan of yours,,keep up the fight, May God Bless you
Just started listening to Vinnies music in the last couple of days because i was listening to kiss bad mouth him so much i had to check him out. Amazing guitarist and i love the albums!
I've always been a VV fan but.. 3 Saturdays in a row?? The same thing? A little dog murdered by the big ones? The 2nd or, Jesus.. the 3rd Saturday you don't go lock the dogs up when she comes over KNOWING what happened the last TWO FKING TIMES???! Not buying it. Somethng in this story is altered. Period.
That's right, I doubt it too. No way the same thing happened three weekends in a row. Would he be so stupid to not do anything to care about dogs after the first or the second time? The truth is he's stupid enough to think people will believe in these stories. And some fanboys are stupid enough to defend him.
Yeah I think so too.. being a guitar player myself I know no matter what you play there will always be someone to try n shit on it...all you can do is be you and go for it and I believe Vinnie Vincent did just that .I think he gave Kiss the boost they needed on Creatures Of The Night and Luck It Up too
that butt though :) All seriousness, this "man" has great courage to get up on that stage knowing how hateful and cruel the internet can be and exposing himself to more cruel remarks and comments...God Bless him!
Heartbreaking. I read Kiss and Tell and it told the story of how poorly Vinnie was paid. Even the shit hotels he was placed in while in Kiss. What I find most despicable is the lying from Paul and Gene. Shameful.
Just don't believe/comprehend the dog story...if I knew that someone acts up the way his ex did, I would have taken precautions next time she shows up and lock the dogs up or protect the little ones...I'm a dog owner..this would not have happen to me twice, not even talking a third time...very strange. But hey, I wasn't there when it happened.
Yeah the circumstances, as he tells them, are extremely implausible. I'm happy he seems to be coming to terms with his gender identity and I have no doubt that living an inauthentic life contributed to the chaos that seemed to perpetually swirl around him, but his account of these events sounds like total bullshit.
Pete Pe Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing with the dogs. If it happens once, then you make sure the dogs and surroundings are not in a situation that it could happen again. But it happened THREE TIMES. The rain excuse is lame too.
I sure missed VINNY a bunch he been through hell and back and kiss screwing him over the way they did hadnt helped matter much either he is a born talent and deserves better then what he had god bless you VINNY your FANS LOVE YOU !!! you are a kind and beautiful human being wish iI could take you home and hang out with you for awhile and maybe jam togather you were the best thing that has ever happend to KISS gene and paul knows this deep down but in denial cos they dont like competition its called ego Easing God Out!! god bless you Vinny !! love you very much brother VV fan for ever !!!
The dog story doesn't add up. 3 times the same thing? Never happened before but now 3 times in a row? And why do you have pets that kill other dogs? I mean wtf dude????? And if it happened once to his "child" then why didn't he take extra precaution and not let it happen not once but twice again!!! Gimme a break man. I call bullshit, it fucking stinks!!!
I don't understand the hate Vinnie gets, he's back, we love it he is not saying it's all thier fault, he is here saying this is what I did wrong and they did that affected me,he holds no ill will it seems. Great talented, in my opinion he took on to much to fast and I feel Paul and Gene took advantage to a degree instead of making the best they could with Vinnie. Let's admit it, KISS was dead in the water Vinnie came at the right time to keep the engine going.
Yes I have met Paul Gene and Ace....Thommy Eric & Bruce Kulick....yes after the original 4 split the rest were all hired guns....But i still feel $550 a week is ridiculous....how can some one focus on there music writing and playing with this poultry amount.... Kiss were at a low point when vinnie joined his songs defentley lifted them into a new direction how could Gene & Paul justify this?? They benefited so much from his songs.....a hell of alot more than $550 per week...I am proud of Vinnie coming forward with this....I truley hope he can get something for his talents he clearly is a great song writer and Guitarist...Goodluck Vinnie
Matt John I'm sure $550 was a lot more than Vinnie was getting before saying yes. If he'd just played what Gene and Paul said things might have been different. Not my favorite KISS guitarist but arguably better than Bruce.
In today's money $550 would be worth roughly $1650 (1980) & $1350 (1983). I saw Vinnie with Kiss in '83 & VVI open for Alice Cooper on the Constrictor tour in '86. Ah yes, the days of $3.35/hr min wage, but tickets for big name bands were only $10-20. Vinnie gave KISS what they desperately needed at the time, and got shafted for his contributions.
He said he cleared about $550. That's before per diem, I bet, which was probably about $50-$75 per day on the road. All lodging, meals, gear, strings, picks, etc. paid for. That figure also has nothing to do with royalties. No tears for VV. I would have taken that gig and thought I was making big bucks!
Dude I wanna cry my poor baby 😭 He is so strong and I feel horrible that he had to go through such a thing. Eric Carr dying is one thing but just hearing Vinnie explain it from his point of view and in his own words just makes me feel upset beyond words.
Wow! This was awesome . "I don't know if i can go there. But if you want me to, i will". I know EXACTLY where he was going and I understand his intrepidation. I had a similar experience. Very specific, profound yet poetic, but most of all-undeniable. I have only told a few people. Not sure what the catalyst is exactly but i think you need to come to the end of yourself and humbly seek him. Now I CAN'T NOT believe-trust me, i have tried. Jesus is who he said he was. It's not religion. It's not dogma, Its not judgement. It's love and truth. God bless you Vinnie and i have such a new found respect for you and hope your career resurrects and sends you on new wonderful adventures.
You can hear him being right on the edge of his emotions here. He's fairly composed, but it seems that whatever was going on in those 20 years was really something. Good for him for working through all that. It would seem that getting up there and putting words to all of it (in public) could be like good therapy. What's also good is that while he still references the lawsuit, he also acknowledges the other guys' point of view. That's also healthy.
I met the guys in Slaughter when they were opening for KISS on the Hot In the Shade Tour. I asked Mark Slaughter and Dana Strumm about working with Vinnie. Let's just say their response was not flattering to Mr Vincent.
