Meet the legends - Gibson Les Paul model 1959 along with Les Paul Goldtop 1957. The gold standard of electric guitar sound of all time. Representatives of the Golden Era of rock and roll. The dream of every guitarist and collector. A guitar shrouded in myth, secrets and magic. But that is not all. In this video, together with Udo Pipper, we compare original vintage guitars and their sound with the sound of my Dr.'s guitars. Nitro workshop. Stephanie Burst and a set of 8Bomb 59 PAFclone, Javelin GT with a set of 8Bomb Goldie PAF pickups. These guitars will compete for their place next to the vintage originals. The sound was recorded using GoPro camera microphones, since this method maximally conveys the real perception of sound in the environment.

Very quality stuff yes, but that 3D type effect seems to be missing from the sound of 8bomb pickups that original PAF's have, at least what we hear in the video. I mean that, sound is good but that's all, there is nothing else in the mix that would get your ears attention. I have heard this same thing on many other brand paf's. They are good but no 3D sound. That's why old original PAF pickups are special.

15.00 to 17.00 mins in is the deciding factor the burst has body and depth in all registers played ! The 57 gold to should have played not amplified also .. I believe 60 years of hardening of the bronze powder lays a thin metallic skin-on the top and adds to the sound!

I thought so too! They sounded really good.. Maybe the pickups where a bit higher on the replicas or the They seemed to drive the amp more.. Also I wasn't in the room.. But great, really!

Yeahh ... Mr. Udo Pipper is a true bluesman playing three-finger performance technique 🥰. Comparison was ... unbelievable, sometimes I couldnt guess what guitar is playing just now, so similar they sounded with this awesome cabinet! Thank you. I understand how it looks in the video, and it can really lead to such thoughts, but still the context of this meeting completely changes the picture. Udo is a very sincere and open person with whom it is very easy to communicate. He is also enthusiastic and has a lot of experience communicating with music stars. At the same time, he knows very precisely what he is talking about and knows how to convey the feeling of the guitar. Stephanie Burst impressed him so much that she is now with him. He brought it to this meeting to also compare it with the original and was constantly amazed. Now he is my partner in Germany.

I listened several times between the original lemon drop '59 and the Stephanie and much to my surprise Stephanie definitely hung in there! The differences were minimal IMHO. and that is really good news if you ask me because i am not going to have $500K anytime soon!😁 There are two 59's on reverb right now for $450K! Ouch!

they all stand toe to toe, they're all very excellent and they're all doing their own sort of thing! because at the end of the day the 50's and early 60's gibsons necks and pickups ect were all a little - to Very much different at times. there are in fact taper neck 58's and there are big necked 60's. there are underwound and overwound PAF's because they were all by hand and they were wound to the key of : "That looks about right". The fact that an 8ball is so good in similar company just means he's doing it right. it just depends at this stage in the game what You the player would want in an old guitar. that's what counts. They're different enough that you will find 50's gibsons you do and do not like 100%. Love the video my friend.

I admit I love the sound of your guitars/pickups more than the original 59 LP. This really put things in perspective for me. I know you make great pickups but man, this is another level and specter of colors you got there (if I may say so). 8bomb ->Javelin goldie -> 57gold -> 59lp

lol u start talkin about how "someone can confuse this with modern reissues, but for me..." and I did not expect you to be younger than me. i'm not sure i understand, though. these are OBVIOUSLY superior to reissues, but the 2019-present VOS CS Reissues can look damn convincing in many finishes... personally, I prefer plan tops, a nice plain top can have plenty of unique grain that gives it a lot of personality. i think that's one thing the Gibons CS can do like nobody else... make those old finishes, make the guitars actually look (almost, ofc) as good as the originals. i just wish it wasn't $5200 for a 58 VOS Reissue...
