In this video, I repair this vintage Black & Decker circular saw that was my grand father's and father's. It needed the cord patched, the frame bent back into shape, grease, a new blade, and a good cleaning.
Details are helpful to me. I would have liked this video if you showed "how" you removed things. It was nice you talked about why the saw wouldn't allow the base to be adjusted.
Nice job 👍 I have the same saw, and it has the same problem you'res did. I would guess probably from being dropped. Gonna have to fix it, Just another one my many projects lol.
Quick question: where can I find that table you used to hold the 2x4 while you did the cross cut? It caught my attention and I can't seem to find one so useful
That is a Black & Decker workmate. I believe it is the “200” model. The boards have been replaced. I have a workmate 300 that I bought from a thrift store, I think they still sell them on amazon and eBay and probably some hardware stores.
I don't have this anymore, but I'm sure that there wasn't a blade lock. You can use a chunk of wood between the blade and the foot to keep it from moving when loosening the bolt.
I also have the same saw. It has issues with the safety button. I came here looking for images of that part being removed. Nothing on that for this video.
You can use pliers tho grab on to the blade while you loosen the bolt, or you can use a piece of wood and set it in between the foot of the saw and a tooth on the blade to keep the blade from turning while you loosen the bolt.
I’d normally put a chunk of wood or something in between the blade and the shoe of the saw. But you’re saying that the blade is loose, is the bolt just spinning when you try to loosen it?
That’s odd, you might have to open the saw up and grip the rotor with a towel or something to remove the bolt. Or try an impact wrench maybe I’m not sure if the saw would provide enough resistance.
