Haha! Miss beer adverts. Why? Are they banned yet gambling adverts are 24/7 which disgusts me as it's no different to cigarettes adverts in health issues. Gamble responsibly, set limits, take a break you'd think it's now the 4th emergency service. They should be shown only after 9pm if at all. Really appalls me.

imagine my mum as a kid watching this, she's diabetic and the message is dairy box "love" parents or men don't give you chocolate your not loved. the message is chocolate is love, my mum self esteem was so low and she felt so alone. My grandad used to buy my grandma dairy box when they were fighting or had normal family issues. The message is so bad, doctors told her she can't have what everyone was having, and she's surrounded by people that didn't support her, they have chocolates in the house all the time. I feel sorry for all the diabetics at this era. so sad 😞 sorry to any of your diabetic mums. they struggled. And know i love them just as i love my mum.

OMG those swirly carpets! My mum had one and I called it her oh-I've-been-sick carpet. Tasteful shades of orange, brown, beige and yellow. She had no concept of colours matching or toning, so the hearthrug was lime green, the curtains had flowers crawling all over them , the wallpaper a trellis pattern (infested with birds) and the three piece suite was bright orange. Walk in - get an instant migraine! (Can you tell that my decor and furnishings are all pattern-free?) Happy memories of the Smiths crisps advert, because I fancied Simon Dee and wished I could be on the show! I also remember Rolls white goods. The company was called Rolls-Razor and even as a child I knew it was going under when it began to give away a holiday with every purchase. I was right -it did stink of desperation, didn't it.

@OofusTwillip
@OofusTwillip 3 года назад
Yes. They're called animatics, and the makers of adverts still use animatics to test the concepts before going to the expense of actually making the commercials. I was in some focus groups in which I watched animatics and answered very detailed questions about my response to them.

This was a wonderful time to be alive in Britain. An innocence & yes a darkness also ( bad & good are forever bedfellows), but overall a beautiful time. Nowadays, I couldn't handle living in a large English city. The warmth is gone. People live in bubbles & enclaves & are praised by our politicians for doing so. Assimilation is considered a crime.Community "spirit" is either absent or broken. British "identity" no longer exists I know it was never perfect, but now it is worse than ever.

We called them twin tubs. When I used one, it was a definite step up from washing clothes in the bath, heaving them into a spin drier, lifting them back into the bath to rinse them, back into the drier, back into more clean water, back into the drier - for what seemed like hours (And/or sometimes pouring water into the spin drier on top of them, to try to speed things up, and then having to fish things out, because I'd poured in too much, made the load too heavy, and it refused to spin. Grrr....) And an even bigger improvement on using a "copper", to boil the nappies, and a small wringer, as my poor mother had to. But they were still a lot of hard work in comparison with the marvel that is the automatic washing machine! If the bailiffs ever arrive on my doorstep, my automatic washing machine is the last thing I'll let them have. :-)

Horlicks was horrible. It’s supposed to help you sleep? I’d rather have a mallet on my head than drink that. Just the sip of it from the tip of a teaspoon made my gag.

I've never heard of "Dairy Box" but those earliest commercials were so simple and lovely--the latter ones too slick and busy, IMO. The "Fairy Snow" ads are as annoying as the soap ads in the U.S..

I think so, they are made by Nestle, the original Daily Box girl in the ads was Una Stubbs.

Many of these are not well known brands... I remember the very first commercial on TV.. GIBBS SR TOOTHPASTE.. Others were - Murray mints.. The too good to hurry mints.. Tide detergent. Shll petrol. and Esso.Blue. Ads started mid to late 1950s. A memory, getting home from school. raiding the larder for crisps, ( only one brand then.. Smiths) and watching The Lone Ranger, or Ivanhoe.. Does that stir memories in anyone else?... Posted 11 / 6/ 20..
