I picked up a vintage Buck 501 off from Ebay. This a Pre-1985 model with Buck written in script. Its been used and shapenedd but overall in good condition.
The 501 is a pretty sweet little knife. I may buy a new one someday. This one has been sharpened enough that the tip almost sticks up when it's closed. Because it's so old I may just put it away so it won't need sharpening anymore.
It is I like it. I may get a new one eventually because this has been sharpened enough that the tip of the blade is pretty close to being exposed when closed.
You got your hands on a great knife there, buddy. I've got a Squire too, but mine is only a few years old and it's got the rosewood handle. Cheers, and enjoy carrying that one!
I might get a new a new one. This has been sharpened enough that the tip is close to sticking up. I'll definitely keep this because it's such an early model. Thanks for checking the video out!!!
@@factorsofjack I’ve been debating on getting it for two weeks now. I used to not like this style of knife until i was pretty much forced to carry an “old timer” brand because I lost my flip out knife. It turns out, these things are pretty solid. The old timer I’m using now is incredibly durable but it’s a bit small. I didn’t want the 110 cause it’s a bit too big but the 501 looks like that perfect middle ground. I came to that conclusion watching your video haha. So thanks 😎👍🏼
I have a couple Bucks that have a little play but have no worry about the lack failing. The 110 might also be bigger than you may want. The blade 3.75 inches and it's heavy. Check out the specs on the 112 Ranger. I love the 110's but actually prefer to carry the 112's. I haven't really seen or handled the Duke.
That’s a really nice knife, looks like to me, like it was made between 1978-80. Rocker rivett( center pin) was taken off in’78. The ones from 1981-84 had the birch wood, and came with a sheath. I don’t think the 78-80 ones had sheaths. Hope that helps, but it’s a really nice knife.
