Vintage Chanel No. 5 - Unboxing Eau de Cologne 

No. 5 really is magical...

Thank you, Mark! Chanel No. 5 EDC is in fact a small miracle. I talk about it in greater depth on a video I did called "What I wore on my summer vacation" from 2022.

As long as it still smells good, I'm happy!

The cologne was discontinued around the late 80s.

It's sort of the whole kitchen sink - aldehydes, citrus, vetiver, real ylang, real jasmine, real rose, real civet, real sandalwood! I agree - No. 5 is the Alpha and the Omega of perfumery.

No. 5 Eau de Cologne - discontinued. Has the classic aldehydic opening of Chanel No. 5, but modern noses will notice the intensity of the civet and nitro-musks that accompany the intensely rich floral heart of jasmine, rose, and ylang. Slightly "fresher" than modern formulations. No. 5 Eau de Toilette - still in production. Probably closest to the Eau de Cologne. In my opinion, EDT is woodier, leather-ier, and slightly less "fresh." Still lovely. No. 5 Eau de Parfum - An 1980's revamp of the No. 5 DNA. The EDP is much more powdery and frilly. If the EDT is Chairwoman & CEO, the EDP is "ladies who lunch." No. 5 Pure Parfum - Still in production. Chanel claims the pure parfum uses the highest quality possible ingredients, including rose and jasmine from the Chanel fields in Grasse.

Thanks @robertasotos816. I did some further digging after this tape, and found a guide to vintage Chanel batch codes. I want to say this bottle ended up being 1986 or 1987. Still smells incredible from top to bottom.

hehe. I haven't smelled the pure parfum. But the EDP is by FAR my least favorite.

I'm a man and I love it! When it arrives, you'll see that Chanel No. 5 is nothing like the hyper-feminine, super-sweet perfumes marketed to women today (i.e. Prada Candy, Good Girl, etc.) Chanel No. 5 (esp. the Eau de Cologne) is woody, complex, and powdery with a citrus opening and an incredible vetiver, sandalwood, vanilla base. Enjoy!

@zambowman , do you have a email address or Facebook messenger? I wanted to send you pics of the bottle, the liquid looks a little dark and I can see where the tag was located. Also at the bottom of bottle is stamped chanel in all four corners.

​@zambowman797 yes you are right but i tried one and they didnt send to Saudi Arabia any ways can you small help me just tell me the if you know regrading this fragrance repalcement,like this, alternative in the chanel right now i mean same smell...please help me if you know. I want this but unable and i just found Chanel BLEU toilet very which i feel because Cologne last time i smell 1998 and my late father used this..please help
