I got the same vice from a buddy of mine I asked him if he had one he wanted to part ways with and I'll be damed if he didn't give it to me I took it home and got all the rust off of it got it down to bare metal I wiped it down with some wd40 and sprayed some clear coat on it I like how it turned out it has a new/old vintage look to it im happy with it I've been wanting a vice for a while finally got one
Just picked one up this weekend at a market here in Wales UK for the bargain price of £15 = $20.63 and in even better condition than the one in this video. Not a common vice here in the UK so I'm proper pleased with my find. Like you say it's a really nice solidly built bit of kit, top job mate👍
Beautiful job on the restoration! I'm looking at a Columbian D44 M5 with pipe jaws in near mint condition for sale at $50. After listening to you talk about the Columbian vise quality I think I'll buy it now.
Happy birthday!!! beautiful restoration. I just got one of these in a junkyard. his only problem is the part that passes the screw to the thread dusted! Could you give me an idea of the best thing to do? Thank you very much in advance. strong hug from Brazil!!!
Hello ! I own an antique Colombia vise that my father owned before , i guess its maybe 100 years old...I'm pretty sure that I have all the parts and I thought I had them installed correctly but the thread doesn't engage....can you help me ?
If I understand you correctly, the lead screw is not engaging the nut? I would pull the slide out and try engaging the screw into the nut without the slide, this will allow you to see everything going on. Feel free to e-mail pics and I'll try and help as best I can. ccmhurricane@gmail.com
Not sure actually, I did this resto about 3 years ago so the details are foggy now. It is a bright canary yellow and has held up well. I still use this little vise in the shop regularly.
