Let's take a look at these vintage 6 point, 3/8" deep Made in the USA Craftsman sockets to start building out my set. I pulled most of these from my original starter set I purchased at Sears probably 20+ years ago, and they've all sat for years unused in that same plastic molded case. These new ARES magnetic trays are perfect for organizing these vintage sockets.

I have some craftsman tools from when I worked at auto shop in the early 90s. Wish I had bought more. I still have those tools and they work great.

Yeah times sure have changed. I also wish I could walk in a Sears store and pick up so many of the tools I should have bought.

man i used to HATE those blowmold cases, but now that i have nostalgia for using my dads set he got back in the late 90s to work on our skateboards and random things, and now that i started picking up craftsman sets at flea markets i really want one of those blowmolds lol id buy that off you

Yeah I totally agree a ton of this is about nostalgia and remembering back when all these Craftsman tools were more commonplace. Thabks for watching! 🛠️

Would you ever make a video showing all the craftsman usa stuff?
@TheEclecticHandyman
@TheEclecticHandyman 3 месяца назад
So I do have a playlist on the channel named, 'Craftsman Tools,' but it has a mix of USA videos and some of the newer stuff too (mostly battery powered tool reviews). I'll try to make a USA only playlist, but for now you can access all the Craftsman videos here: ru-vid.com/group/PLhZY4_TsChpLb0xbKMCDCfprt9WQgCgzu&si=D_seuEaubRIWvpnQ Thanks for watching! 🛠️

You are missing the 5/8 in that set as well, with that piece you would be able to put the 3/8 back in the first spot.

I have some of the info your wanting on the uber rare hard to find craftsman sockets. I have a few of them.. I have 1/4 dr. 15mm 6pt. deep and shallow, 1/4 dr. 5/32 6pt deep, 1/2 dr. 7/16 deep in 6 and 12pt., 3/8 dr. 12pt. deep 21 and 22mmn( idk if 20 exsist, if it does I don't have the part#), and a 1/2 dr. 32mm 6pt shallow. all of those i have only seen them the 1 time when i purchased them. couple of them the guy had multiples and I bout them all.. lol I'm building the ultimate NOS socket set. all either G2 or GK. I only need like 12 more that I know exist. But I guarantee there are more.. Like in your 3/8 deep 6pts. I don't know of any part#s for bigger than 19. but there is one smaller. a 8mm. I need it for my set.. lol I need that 20mm 3/8 12pt in your other video too.. lol There is also a 30mm deep 1/2 dr. that exsit. And if i have a 32mm 6pt. 1/2 dr. To me even though i don't have part#s for 23-30. I bet money they exist.... I have researched these socket part#s hardcore...

That's awesome thanks for all the info and good luck on putting together that set! It's crazy how some of the odd sizes they made so sparingly and so difficult to find.

@@craigdave3266 Yep so the 13/16" deep is part # 43338. The 7/8" is part # 43339. The 15/16" is part # 43328. The 1" is part # 43329. Hope this helps! 🛠️

6 point are far superior to 12 point!
@TheEclecticHandyman
@TheEclecticHandyman 5 месяцев назад
I certainly like them! Wish I the 1/2" the 6pt was more prominent, but in the Craftsman line the 12pt was more common. Thanks for watching! 🛠️

@@TheEclecticHandyman I buy a lot of tool lots during the summers and I always find 90% of the sockets are 12pt. They have 12 different starting points which is practical in a very tight spot but are more prone to stripping the bolt. A 6 pt has obviously 6 starting points but has full contact with each side of the bolt giving it a far superior grip which makes it less likely to strip. Both have their purpose I guess! Thanks for making the vids.

@@TD75 that's a good point I never thought of. I wasn't thinking about sockets per say, I was thinking about wrenches. I'm not a mechanic so I cant really say anymore than what I have. That's the extent of my knowledge on this particular subject. Lol
