Chalk paint is probably the most forgiving way to redo furniture. I had a China cabinet that belonged to my husband's grandmother and it was UGLY, a catch all and did not have sufficient depth to hold dishes. I begged to get rid of it for years. LOL Then I got a wild hair and refinished it with chalk paint and now it's my favorite piece of furniture in my house. Just make sure to give it several coats of wax when finished painting and once a year, re-wax the piece to clean and continue to protect the surface for many years to come. EXCELLENT JOB!!

I'm so glad you brought out the beauty of the wood and didn't just paint the top. It is a striking combo with the distressed white drawers. Joascouldnt feel happier with such a thoughtful gift. A real wood desk of that quality would be worth over a thousand dollars.

The bit I know. When you wet wipe down bare wood, it opens up the grain which is not wanted. In the future you buy cloths called tack cloths. They attract sand dust and remove it. Also my understanding is when sanding always sand along the grain of wood. In between coats of primer and paint, sand with fine sand paper. I love your technique on top applying stain. After drying stain or paint use fine sandpaper, wipe down with tack cloths. That is craft paint in little jars. That works. Another technique to antiquing is to tap the paint brush onto a cloth or paper or paper towel to get the excess paint off the brush so you don’t apply to much. Lovely job Priscilla. He was totally surprised and happy!

Priscilla, the desk you prepared for Joas is incredible! It certainly looks brand new and amazing! You did such a great job sanding, staining, and painting! It’s perfect for the office space. It was wonderful seeing Joas so trilled with it! Also, you did a great job with planting your garden spaces that Joas prepared! Those lush plants will grow and give you some delicious meals! Oh, how precious! My Dad used to work out of town for years. We would always be so excited for him to get home! I am now his and my Mom caregiver. We just found out he has terminal cancer. I'm so blessed to be with him with what time he has left. Breaks my heart, but we know we'll see each other again!!! Thank you Jesus

Priscilla i thought I'd share a few tips with you ,you could have used paint and varnish remover for your top it works great than sand it,and for painting there are small foam rollers for painting also, get ours from Dollarama ,just thought I'd make it easier next time you have a job like this 💞 but all in all its very beautiful, have a great weekend ,God Bless 🙏🙏

Priscilla you are so talented...and patient...when I was younger I did some projects...I hated sanding cause I had no electric sander...it looks lovely and it fitted the nook perfectly...Father's Nook.. you can even put a small shelf for books on the left side..❤️
