My goodness, home truly is where the heart is. Loved growing up in Winnipeg during the 70s in a strong, working-class family. Thank you for the fond memories!
I grew up in Winnipeg during the 60's & 70's and many of the buildings in the pictures I remember well. My father drove the trolley bus and when I was old enough I would ride with him on his route which in many cases took us downtown. I also remember the construction of the Richardson Building and standing at the base of it when was completed and being in awe of it. Enjoyed the pictures and the memory's they revived .Thanks
Main Street 50's and 60's was crowded with people going to a movie theater..playing billiards..bowling..having a beer..eating at a restaurant..shopping for groceries or clothing..people were spending money..look at it now..i grew up in that area and have good memories of that time...
thanks for posting. So nice to see the "old" cars. In 1968 I waited for the Marion bus in front of Wilson's furniture, and used to count the floors of the Richardson Building as it rose. Once finished, I'd take my students to the observation deck - it was very exciting, Winnipeg was finally getting a skyscraper.
Great photos! I grew up downtown and this brings back so many fond memories. Langside between Portage and Ellice were my stomping grounds. Thanks for sharing these!
Terrific photos! Great job... Great music too... I grew up in in St. Vital but I've lived in Toronto for 37 years.Heavy nostalgia with this.... thanks for posting
Back in the days before the white replacement. Civilized and clean and not overpopulated .We can thank are traitor politicians for the hell hole it is now.
Yes.... I've seen a few of them...,, really great. It's like opening a box in my memory. Would you have any vids /pics of St. Vital in the 40's.. to 1960's ? Thx
also do not assimilate but a agree most are hard working and are decent people. But and a big but they do not become Canadians they all live in the maples and do not assimilate to Canadian culture just try to create a little manila.
Anyone know where 14: is, i think this is on portage and the back tall building is the richardson building , it cant be the medical arts building , its on the other side
You are looking at the Air Canada building in the distance, and you are high up on the south side of Portage avenue across from that abomination they built called Portage Place. The Richardson building would be another 60 to 70 degrees to your right.
Hi! I'm originally born and raised in Winnipeg- I'm working on a documentary of growing up in Winnipeg (mainly in the 1970s) and would love to use many of the photos you used here! Are these your photos or/and do you know how to get permission to use some of these excellent nostalgic photos? Thanks so much!

@@kewlthings Thanks! Just signed up! Do you have the rights to the photos you've used as they would be great to consider for my new indie documentary on Winnipeg- thanks!
@@kewlthings I'm working on my documentary about growing up in Winnipeg in the early 70s- how do you feel about allowing me potentially to use some of your photos (credited of course!)- thanks!
@@rossmunro8775 You can use them no problem Ross. I grew up in Winnipeg in the 70's too and I loved it. I love the 70's and Iove Winnipeg. It was such a great time and a great place to grow up. Just credit for the pictures in my name is fine. I can't wait to see your documentary!
It was a fun city until it got so god damned dangerous to be outdoors. Back before you had a better chance of being randomly murdered at a bus stop anywhere in Winnipeg than you do of winning the lottery...just sayin'.
