I was 13 when this came out and my name is Mike Powers. I was one of the smaller kids in my class was teased a little about this toy. I'm 56 now and still in therapy....LOLOL
Not my favorite Joe but was still around in late 70s so I had one as a kid, along with legit 6 million $ man. Actually seems like a bargain under $100 for a nice condition loose figure on ebay but they vary in price quite a bit depending on condition. Yours seems pretty good shape, a7 or 8 anyway. The GIJCC remake of him in 2016 was much better figure and accs. set, wish I got it when they had the big closeout sale
Atomic Man is one of the figures I'm still watching for. Never had one, I think about the time he was out I had shifted interest to the Bionic Man figures and sets. Looks good!
I had one when he appeared in 1975. The seller for me was the 'copter blades. I was disappointed because his floppy wrist never held the blades straight, so the blades wobbled all over when spun. Was there a way to lock the spinning wrist in place while using the blades? I never noticed, and don't know if there ever was. Even in the TV commercial when the blades start spinning, they flop all over. Cut to a later view where they are spinning nice & level. I'm thinking Hasbro jury-rigged something for the shoot to make it look good....and, yes everyone... it's "P-O-W-E-R" vs. P-O-W-E-R-S".
Thats a great price! I sold my Mike Powers for nearly twice what you paid! Obviously he's rarer over here in the uk, we got Atomic Man over here (as i'm sure you know) but you also got the bullet man items which aren't cheap to buy either, and all of it is in excellent shape too! Funnily enough i got a big joblot of Action Men & accessories with some bullet man items amongst them myself yesterday, i'm planning to do a video today if i can get the lighting right in my games room!
