Being an "old time" antique dealer, I've sold a few hundred pieces of Fenton and hundreds more pieces of other fine glassware over the years. While it is true that museum quality glass can still bring respectable prices online, I would strongly discourage anyone from buying glass on the assumption that it will bring a high price on ebay or any other online venue. A check of sold items will show that prices of even very nice colors and sets are quite modest in nearly all cases. Beautiful china and glass that had a ready market 30 years ago just doesn't fit the lifestyle of people with disposable income today. Ask anyone who runs an estate sale business where video games and electronics are far more sought after than glass, china, fine art, and the like. There's still a market but at far lower prices.

I'm glad I stumbled upon this channel, as someone who has struggled over the last 4 years trying to save things that still hold value from being junked and fetch even a modest amount from any of it, I relish the opportunity to hear what someone in your position has to say about the subject. It's fascinating to see that there are still other auctions making money in spite of the giant that eBay has become in the business. I wish that eBay would prohibit antiques and limit their devaluation of everything to current market goods only. Oh well, like you and your watchers mention, my generation and younger just don't have the penchant for collecting antiques like our parents and grandparents did. Oh yeah, I wanted to mention also, I haven't yet watched any of your other videos so I don't know if this happens in all of them or is limited to this one but your camera's white balance didn't get set properly before you began filming so the entire video I struggled wth the distraction of your skin color going back and forth between a golden tan and an ashy whitish gray. It's probably not very noticeable on phones, tablets and maybe even computer screens but I'm watching on a tv. Anyway, just thought I'd let you know, keep up the good work, I look forward to watching and learning more from your channels.

I purchased the nativity set when it first came out and all pieces are first editions and signed. Unfortunately, that $750 price tag is about what it cost me to purchase all the pieces as Fenton released them over the course of 5 or so years. I don't have the star, but I have everything else including the boxes and receipts for purchase.

I have a question: I have a huge passion for collecting ceramics & a lot of glass and/or lead crystal🥰. I love collecting these items, not only to enjoy them visually, But To learn about the history/art history, that lies behind it! I've recently been growing passionate about selling many of the items that I find. Simply because I can't keep everything. But, also because it's so hard to pass certain items up, when I truly know that there are others passionate about these items, that could enjoy, value & care for these amazing peices of art! So, it's so hard to pass 'em by. **My question is how do you ship items, of this nature, on a regular basis? I've done some homework, and am starting to understand the concept. However, realistically, these are the items that I am attracted to, and I'm finding it extremely hard to find any realistic perspective on how shipping goes within this area? Most of the information available is by so many who specifically refuse to buy & sell ceramics/glass (in particularly medium-large items) Simply due to the difficulties with shipping them. I'm curious if you have an informative, detailed & realistic answer(s) to this question? Thanks so much!

One was a box of early children's book, illustrated by Maxfield Parish, and the o the was a huge box filled with Robert Frost books from the mid teens to the mid 1950's but what's special you ask? Each of the books were writers copies inscribed by frost to his editor !

I tried several different key words on eBay but could not find any examples. How and what category would you list it in. These prices are ridiculous even by late 90s standards. Most of these are ebayers with bid fever that get caught up in the moment. Cranberry is always the most popular followed by the plum (plum is always expensive) that “turquoise” isn’t Fenton turquoise it’s actually called Jamestown and that’s why that cake plate went so high, very limited production on that color. He didn’t even mention Wisteria/Lilac hobnail that wasn’t offere to the public, it’s was commissioned by ShermanWilliams as a promotional gift for a corporate sales competition. I have 11 pieces of it and that’s across close to 30 years collecting. I haven’t been collecting since the bottom fell out in 2008 when the world collapsed. But I can’t see the prices surpassing the hight of the collection boom around 2001

Dear S Schwartz, earlier pieces from late 1930's to late 40's most always had paper/foil labels! Problem with this is pieces get washed and labels are lost! Same holds true for early Roseville pottery! Early pieces had a foil type paper label,so if you know Roseville and find a piece you suspect is roseville, but isn't marked, remember this free tip!
