I desperately needed this kind of video, I didn't know what to do with my hair on 2nd and 3rd day after curling my hair with sponge rollers, so thank you very much pretty lady 😊. lots of love ❤
Try ditching SLS and silicones - it seriously transformed my hair. I used to have to wash every other day, if not every day. But since I got rid of those I don’t. I use the Faith in Nature range in Holland and Barrett.
That’s really helpful to know! I also have the same issue where my hair is super greasy after just one day. How long did it take for your hair to adjust to the new shampoo and conditioner?
That’s very kind of you to say. It’s simple, Buffet serum by The Ordinary Two drops of organic rose hip oil by The ordinary - all over face ( I have dry skin) Skin perfecting tint (light) Last slick mascara Generation G lip stain in Crush all by Glossier.
Thoroughly enjoyed this video! After many attempts I still haven't managed to get the vintage hair styles correct, I will keep trying. I re-enact 1940's and usually end up wearing an outfit that looks fine with a turban lol. I am going to give the bendy rollers a go! X
Haha! Bendy rollers are great, I find that I have to only put about 12 in to get a really decent look - with foam rollers, gosh I feel like I’ve got about 50 in there. What’s going on with your hair then? What do you think is stopping you from getting the styles you want? Maybe I can help.
Fitfully Vintage - thank you so much for replying! My hair is long but very straight and I suppose thin, no natural curl whatsoever (I have a shortish fringe but at the moment it is not Bettie Page short). It curls nice with heated rollers but when I 'attempt' to brush it out to give more of a vintage look I seem to just flatten it and the curl pretty much disappears. I'm also never sure what to do with my fringe when it is a 'normal' length. Not sure if I am making any sense ha ha. I do have some layers in my hair also. Any thoughts/advice you can give would be much appreciated! Xx
I think definitely that wetsets will work better for you. I find also that heated curls don’t hold up to brushing so well on my hair either. I know that some people can use a heat set just like a wet set but I don’t find the curls as strong or long lasting at all. If you try rolling your fringe backwards, away from your face you might find that it will incorporate in with the rest of your hair and give you that vintage swoosh. Give it a bit of a backcomb to help, that’s what I do with mine if I want to ‘hide’ it.
Fitfully Vintage - I shall definitely attempt a wet set again, I failed miserably previously! I suspect that I have been too impatient with the brush out in past attempts. Many thanks for going to the trouble of replying, much appreciated. Oh, I enjoyed this mornings email and totally agree with your approach to Christmas and children and too much stuff. I have always limited the gifts for my boys and they have grown in to very grateful young men. Quality, family time is much better than unlimited expensive gifts. X
Gorgeous so msny great ideas.. if only my curls lasted that long. If I do a 'wet set' it takes 48+ hours to dry, and dry set are curly for the first 14hrs, wavy the next day then straight after that. 😣
Ever since I started using pomade I almost never use hair spray any more. My favorite pomade is Mad Wax Rebel Slick by KrypticArt on Lox Hair Wax Co. Website. Only thing I do not like about this pomade is the smell, Peach. The hold is amazing!
Cruelty free brush out hairsprays; umberto giannini, silvikrin, fudge, bumble and bumble, paul mitchell, herbivore botanicals, deva curl, dermorganic . All in uk x
When you condition after shampoo, only put conditioner on the ends and quarter way up, avoiding the scalp. This cuts down on oil production. And naturally greasy hair naturally conditions the scalp already. Maybe you already knew this ❤
I've never heard concertina used as a verb before! Actually you don't hear it used much at all here... we call it bob wire (Barbed Wire,) and who wants THAT in their hair? Beautiful styles! Thank you.
@@stephaniemorey8351 Not everyone is a Yankee, and speaks English the way Americans do...even myself...a 5th generation Texan. I dare say some American verb usage would scandalize other English speakers. Really...travel more and learn not to be such a "Damn Yankee".
JoAnna The Singer I'm not a Yankee, I've lived in several countries and more regions of this country, and by the way, the concertina I was referring to was concertina wire, which should be familiar to Europeans, since that is what they call barbed wire. It might have been a lame joke but I didn't think it merited that measure of condensation.
What I really want to know is how you got away without washing your hair for a week without it showing. :O Not that it particularly matters for me because with hair as long as mine I'm lucky to keep a curl longer than 8hrs, especially if I don't use a ton of product to hold them. Even wet setting rag curls. I've yet to figure out how to get longevity out of them.
The one thing that has helped exponentially with that is getting rid of silicones and sulphates in my products. The difference is unbelievable. I used to be greasy haired on the second day but now, not at all - certainly my hair gradually becomes less fresh, I can’t often wear my hair down at the end of the week because by them it’s a bit ‘heavy’. I use Faith in Nature that I buy in Holland and Barratt. Also I only condition the ends of my hair.
@@FitfullyVintage I don't know that we can get Faith in Nature here in the states, but I can certainly look. C: Far as I know my shampoo and conditioner is free of silicones and sulphates... but I could be wrong. It could also just be my body chemistry. I don't shower every day (more like every third day, fourth if I'm lucky), but I don't know that I could stretch it to a week. Would be awesome if I could though, and then figure out how to set curls so they'll also still be usable after more than a day. LOL
