I wonder how much grain is planted and harvested across the world every year with such machinery. Not everyone can afford 40ft JD's with GPS. Thanks for keeping the old girls running.

hardly any old machines get out into the crop any more, even though they do make the best sample! they are just a hobby for me, but some people depend on them

Love the little 45 R johnny , when I was seven or 8 yrs old I rode with my dad on a 95 round back it was fitted with flaxrollers which I don't think we're that common. R

Made in Australia for the lighter crops we used to produce, also where the original name for "header" came from as they are designed to take just heads and little straw. . The basic design of the combine is much the same to your combines. But the heads are closed in, have two feed augers, one that rakes the crop off the knife then into the second one which just feeds across to the feeder house. The long fingers work as a comb and guides the crop down to a very small knife. Always happy to answer any questions :)

The older harvesters had "seconds" bins on them that would take out any undersized grain and only fill the main bin with the good stuff. Some had bins and some had outlets for bags to hang on them.

Hillbilly Sniper yes a drought year indeed that year. First part of the video is harvesting chickpeas, other half is oats. Very light crop

Jethro Walrustitty sunshine's are very very common here, they were Australias own made header from the start. pto models started appearing in the 1930s and we had them all the way to the late 1950s

Cool thanks, I had no idea they made them for so long. So the lack of bagging facilities replaced by bulk bin must also be factory ? I used to hear stories about how good you had to be as a sack sewer to keep up in heavy wheat. Dad told me this story about being on the bagging platform in 90 bushel wheat. They had to stop the driver and catch up :-)

the bulk bin on the side is still for bags just fill her up then stop and bag off. Defiantly be pulling up in yields like that!

Stella Giles that year for us was a very low rainfall year. Headers in the video have Australian comb fronts. But most combines you buy now come with a pick up reel

Heavy drought year, got to get anything you can to recoup some cost. We already operate on lower break even points in Australia than most other places
