Most of our appliances were made in the United States. They were well-made and lasted a very long time. I still have a rotary dial phone that was from the 1960s and worked wonderfully the sound was incredible. I have kept it to show my grandchildren the phone my husband and I talked on when we were teenagers. I used it up until about 10 years ago. It still works. I remember growing up with a Sears Kenmore washer and dryer. It lasted 25 years. The washer and dryer we bought two and a half years ago broke it's a Sears made in China model. Kind of expensive. Don't buy anything made in China anymore. Japan okay.

@@VelvetRedRoses Italian designers still make great shoes. They do tend to be very narrow, though...and the sizing is different. The last forever, tho. I have a pair of Manolos I got from a 2nd hand shop for 30.00. Still have them.

Yeah, the old way was to match bag, belt and gloves/hat. Obviously, that's a no-no now, but you could go with a lighter color or something that contrasts in an interesting way. For example, red and pink. Dark teal and orange. Grey and pink. Pink and black. Dark green and light blue. Usually, you make sure they're the sane pitch, but not always. Too many pastels looks odd. You can do say, bright red-orange jeans and d'orsay shoes of the same color. I put that with a pink and cream Joie blouse. I would not use a black jacket with it. Brown would work. You'll find a lot of interesting things on eBay. Sometimes, vintage housewares or jewelry. I just bought a Dixie dog planter for under 20.00 and a sputnik broch/necklace. You want super nice condition. Don't handle things too much. There was a lot of lead and worse in old dishes and toys and such. Including Fisher Price, Corningware, Pyrex and even Tupperware. Wash after handling this old stuff, because you don't know. Please see leadfreemama. Found her looking for very pristine Lincoln Logs for a friend's kid. Tamara Rubin.

I had to be home for dinner my mom said everyone's ready to sit down ad the question was asked where is Christine everyone came out looking for me could usually find me doing things I was not supposed to this was always followed by a spanking all the way and right in front of my friends, I was never grounded never got things taken away like no ice cream tonight, after supper, and after supper I was back out playing we played kick ball. In front of my house my dad was out sitting on the front steps watering the grass, if The game broke up we played hide and seek then every kid watched the street lights when they came on it was over we all had to get home my friend Susan and I would sit ion her front steps or mine drinking a coke or Pepsi just talking and laughing my parents knew where I was and hers also knew, those were fun days not like today my 9 yr old grand son wanted to walk to subway his mom said yes and gave him money I was a wreck until he got. Home, my daughter said mom he's 9, do you have anything idea how far I went when I was his age I didn't really want to know, and I remember being 9going to the swamp waiting for the train we jumped on and road for a few blocks jumped off and went to the neighborhood corner store to get penny candy

We played outside all day and night just so you made it home when the street lights went on kids said see ya tomorrow, and off there'd fly it was time four the late news and late show my dad popped popcorn got us cokes or Pepsi suddenly it was me and my sister alone in the basement and a demo that door to get the popcorn pot alone lived in one of the cabinets I would not even open the door to get the popcorn pot unless my dad was with me, that was creepy for me playing outside nope

@@verashular7378 I throw a couple away not to long ago on accident not really knowing what they where. Here I am a couple years later collecting them. My mom says my aunt used have a pink aluminum Christmas a long time ago.

If you get this tree, consider a ROTATING COLOR WHEEL (red, blue, green, yellow). A white light shines through the wheel. Then watch the AL tree change colors. I enjoyed seeing this as a kid.

Since then my gerbil died (escaped cage and fell), my great grandfather died (Covid), my fish died, my dog died (hit by a car), my cousin got depressed and started failing in school, great grandmother died (natural), and my grandfather I was talking about in this comment died from falling off a ladder. What a lot of nonsense about not seeing „class like this anymore“.

maybe not as much, but then again there still is class, and to be fair on the ladies, there are many men out there who want their wife/gf to work a fulltime job, even with children, so they can´t have it both ways. You also don´t see so many class gentlemen, but there still are some around. I agree her husband is a lucky man, and he himself acts gentleman-like towards her, so good for both of them :)

I was born In 2003 and I have a soft spot for Vintage aesthetic. It really ads a character to the house and looks pretty Unique. Nowadays it looks cleaner and sleeker but kinda bland at the same time. I feel like no one should be afraid and forced to change the lifestyle as time flies. Sure some things don’t last forever and change can happen but that doesn’t mean the Vintage lifestyle can’t last. It should be a option instead of being only for Boomers.

My dad's first job was an assistant for a tv repair man. He went on to become an electrician and repairs antique electronics as a hobby. He has cathedral radios, tvs with 8 inch screens and all kinds of photographs. The old tubes are probably hard to find because he hoards them all lol Any time he finds any online he snaps them up.
