I've had some older furniture come apart when I tried to move it, but never have had a door drop off on its own. Paint blending on furniture is so unique. I really love to watch it unfold as you put it on. Nice job as usual. Thanks for taking the time to share your tutorials.

First off, LOVE the hutch & LOVE the paint job! I wish we could see the response of each client when they see it for the first time. I too use makeup brushes. Here in the states, Walmart carries e.l.f. It's a cheap brand so their brushes are only $2 & $3. they are EXCELLENT though. I love painting with them. Woo Hoo Desiree!! and A HUGE WOO HOO for the run!! You have got to be feeling so good about yourself. I'm a million miles away, have never seen or even spoken to you in person and I'm Hella Proud!🤍🤍🤍

So,so, beautiful! I love this old pieces and I ' am always on the hunt for them on eBay kleinanzeigen in germany . Buuut me and the hubby invented the "you can only buy it when you a have place for it " rule because I went a bit over board with the hoarding ( can't part from my pieces)so something needed to be done 😉. It Was a good rule because I think longer befreit I buy a new projekt.

Welcome back and congrats on your 25th half marathon! Another STUNNING piece! Love the color(s), Antebellum is still my fav DB color and blends beautifully with Duck Egg. Thx for sharing the back-story. That would’ve scared the crap out of me! My mom has an antique family heirloom piece and asked me to refinish it (to match her table and chairs I redid in an ombré with DB Midnight Sky and NPGS in espresso). BUT, it has the original glass in it (just 3 large pieces, 1 in the door and 1 on each side) and I said NO WAY! Bc 1 I would feel horrible if it broke (it was my grandmother’s) and 2 it would no longer be in it’s original state. Once I explained it it to her like that, she changed her mind. Anyway, thanks as always for sharing your amazing talent and what happens when things don’t always go as planned!💜

Omg I just bought a antique waterfall cabinet .. One glass door ...same thing happened ...all was good .. Then BOOM !! The frame on the door just broke ..and down came the door ...glass everywhere ..your pic was just exactly the same as mine ...crazy

Ummmmmm, HOW. DID. YOU. GET. IT. UPSTAIRS!!!! 😳😳😳😳😳 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Beautiful work as always - so much easier taking the back off hey? I do a lot of cabinets. I’ve found running the blade down the seam of the glass and the painted piece first and then scraping towards the painted edge, the excess paint just drops off with a nice neat clean edge 😊 This vid was Perfect timing, I took some shots of your bleed thru example to show some clients 😘 THANKYOU!!!

Oh this is fantastic! Just what I needed to watch today! I picked up some more VDE on sale this weekend and I’ve had antebellum blue just sitting waiting for a project. Now I know what I’ll do with them! Question for you. I’m wanting to invest in some DB brushes as my Christmas gift, for blending purposes. I prefer synthetic, what do you recommend?

Well, honestly because the piece broke while I was working on it I didn’t charge her for it because I felt awful. So originally I charged her for just pointing her own piece but then this turned into me having to buy and transport and paint. It may not be good business sense but sometimes as a business I feel like doing the right thing means more and even though it wasn’t my fault I still felt as though I should have done what I needed for her. If you are painting someone else hutch that is this size I would suggest at least $400-500 depending on how many colors, if you are sealing etc

Gorgeous piece, superb artistry, but, if you put a primer before the silk baja paint, its not reallly an all in one paint is it? Not your fault, you don't manufacture the paint, just an observation on my part 😉 thanks for sharing your techniques.

If this is a live video recording, both layers of paint are fresh and watery, so how do you manage to keep brushes without dragging the co underneath colour? It has not worked for me at least I have to wait for the dark base colour to dry before I applying the top clear colour..... wasted so much paint. Any good luck to everyone trying to use this technique.

You can do the same exact thing you just will want to use a bonding primer first if it is not solid wood :)

Love love love this piece!!! I have a piece similar and have already painted it bunker hill blue, what could I lighten it up with. Will it work the same way just reverse the light paint over the darker color?

Your end design turned out very nicely, I loved the shading you applied... but it always hurts my heart, when I see a piece that has a beautiful wood grain on it, (like the bottom panel of this piece)painted over. I think it would have been nice to leave the panel, and design the rest of the piece to compliment it. Also, just sort of something to consider.... I don't believe those legs are original... The cabriole design of them is not in keeping with the more sleek art deco lines of the piece. I think it might have been nice to replace them. These are just my observations, my own take on it, and I put it out there for you to consider, for future projects, not as criticism. Keep going with your passion...you are doing beautiful work!

I live in Germany so this is actually a piece made by a furniture company here in Heidelberg. It is a custom order so I do what my client wants. I agree the wood grain is pretty but it’s not always my call in this business :)

Gorgeous as always. Just wondering...have you ever gotten into a funk where you just didn’t want to paint/restore/renovate any furniture at all? I had gotten frustrated with a piece and decided to take a little break. Well now that little break has turned into a month long break and I just can’t get motivated to start again. If you’ve ever gone through something similar, how were you able to get past the “funk” and get motivated again?

Yes! Truth be told I have been in that funk lately, I don’t know if it’s the weather or what. Burnout is real, what I normally do is find a piece I don’t care about and just go to town on it, not thinking at all and that is usually what I need. Try going on Pinterest and looking at old doors, colorful dresses, look up colorful European houses. Those things usually reignite me. Sometimes though you need that time to reset.
