I truly appreciate you staying in and watching. When I saw my coworker touch up the edge on his knife like this I thought there is no way it would work, but it does.
Alignment - Center the blade in the well, I use tweezers from a Swiss Army Knife, and rap the pivot pin with a light hammer, having laid the other side of the pin on a hard surface. The slip joint, the joint where the tang of the blade slides over the spring, is worn out. That's not a quick fix to get snap back. Either add metal, or put a new blade in. You could, if you are worried about the blade folding on you, glue a strip of wood or something to the end of the spring so it sits a little proud of the body, then use a sabre grip so your thumb indexes on the strip. I do this sometimes with friction folders. Personally, I'd leave it as it is, it looks like its already paid for itself, and buy another one. TIP - A sunken spring can often mean a worn out slip joint.
Grandpa got me carrying a hawkbill. I use a Pringles can and sandpaper. To sharpen them. You can also use the corner of a stone. Im a sharpening, axe and knife junkie lol You can use red lock tight. To glue thin shim to the back of that blade tang. . To increase pressure. or you could centerpunch it. To raise a burr which will accomplish the same thing.
Love watching your videos sir! I was watching with my youngest son, when you grabbed the 5000 , I was like yep , he’s gonna make that blade like a mirror. Please stop teasing me like that! Overall Great Job though! Love you Bro !
Lol I will look for another vintage knife that I will be okay bringing to a mirror finish. I let each tool tell me what it needs. This KEEN KUTTER wanted to keep some of its stories. Thank you so much for watching. Hopefully I have inspired you and your son to take on some projects together.
I respect that you let each tool speak to you ! I know it seems corny to some folk but I do the same , especially when I did stuff to my v dub back in the day ! It spoke way too much , must of been a women ! Lol ! 😂
