Thanks Sandy, the basket is in really good condition except for the paining on the lid. I think I am just going to paint over it with some dark green paint.
Bodie says Woof with a wagging tail! I left a lot of my favorite books in the library for the next librarian when I retired….wish I still had some of them but I know the children are enjoying them and that is what is important. Thanks so much for visiting.
Hey Susan! You really founds some great treasures!! I can just see it now how gorgeous the tool box is going to be on your table!! Thanks for sharing!! Hugs!! 😊
Hey Lu, I have been working on the picnic basket and the tool box. The tool box turned out beautiful! The basket still needs another coat of paint on the lid but I think it is going to look good too. Thanks for watching.
Hi Susan…. Thanks for sharing your day out with all your friends. I loved all treasures, especially the tool box. You will have to have hubby , put some wheels on it so you can move it around. 😂❤Hahaha 🙋♀️. 🎃🐿👻🍂🍁 Enjoy the weekend.
Thanks Charlotte. I know, that tool box made my day. I cleaned it and rubbed two coats of stain on it today and it looks so good, I can’t wait to decorate it for Christmas…is it too son ???
Great haul, love the green picnic basket, the flowers on the top are beautiful ❤️😊 also love that heavy tool box, and yes it's going to look beautiful on top of your dining room table ❤❤
Thanks, I have put two coats of paint on the lid and it still needs one more but I think it will look really good. I stained the tool box and it looks amazing!
Love your finds! The little lunch basket is adorable would be good displayed with your thermoses! The big wooden tool box will be perfect with anything in it! I have a large blue one I got years ago, it's holding assorted sewing/quilt stuff in it but may have to try it on my dining table, good idea! Thanks for sharing your great finds!
Hi Carmen, I was thinking the same thing about the basket and my thermoses! My wheels are spinning for ideas to use with them especially for Christmas. Thanks for watching.
Thanks Susan, I wish I could come across some of the treasures you seen to find! There just doesn’t seem to be a lot around here and our estate sales are really starting to be ridiculous in their prices.
Fun video shopping with you! Great character finds for Christmas decor Susan🥰 Good luck finding the lunch box! Books are precious! I’m still hunting vintage Santa cups. Hope all is well🙏🙏🐾❤️
Tammy, I am always on the hunt for Santa cups but lately I have has no luck at ALL! As I was buying those items I was thinking “ how to use this at Christmas”! Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
What a haul. Interested to see the tool box all decorated. I am a sucker for picnic baskets and do have a couple of metal ones also but not red plaid. Looks like a fun day.
Hi Terry, it was a fun day and the weather turned out to be very nice after 4 days of dreary weather. I was hopping to find a metal picnic basket but there was none to be had. I already stained the tool caddy and it looks great. I hope I can decorate it the way I have pictures in my mind….we shall see! Thanks for watching
Hi Susan. I loved this video so much. I think I mentioned to you in a previous video that I reside in Suffolk. I am probably 20 minutes or so from Smithfield. I usually go to tbe anique shops, and thrift shops there at least 2 weekends out of the month. I was the weekend of the 16th. Don't you just love, love, love those quaint little historical towns. I always find the best treasures there. Thank you for this lovely video😊
Hi Patrinia, I completely forgot you live in Suffolk. I am in North Suffolk so Smithfield is about 15 minutes from me. I love that little town, it has such quaint restaurants. If you every see me out an about please introduce yourself to me. Take care my Suffolk friend!
Oh Susan I love the tool Box love the gift shop and the corner cabinet I’m sure it’s not for sale . Estate sales are great if you’re lucky. We had a laundry basket years ago I haven’t seen one in years 😊
Susan, great things you got for your home from the Vintage Fair. I have been so busy trying to get things done around here and taking care of my Husband. I will start looking out for places to go to shop at Antique Sales around here, but I am limited to what I can get because of limited storage areas right now. I hope you are doing well and have a great week.
Hi Kathy, I know what you mean about limited storage and what do I do…buy 3 large pieces to store! I am sorry to hear that your husband needs so much care but I know you are doing it with love and he is in good hands. I hope you can find time to get out and explore the shops near you. Take care and thanks for stopping by!
Barbara, Are you sure he doesn’t have one stashed away somewhere? I have been looking for one for over a year and kind of gave up, then like a gift from heaven it was sitting there calling my name!
I have my lunch box and Dads and sons. collection of antique lunch boxs. I have old fashioned picnic basket came with small plaid blankets and dishes snd have antique croquet set.
Great haul! Love the baskets! I love children's books also. I was a school librarian. I received a picnic basket like the green one as a wedding gift forty six years ago, and I still have it! TFS
Wow 🤩 l thought Smithfield was just a ham place . How ignorant l am !!! My Meemaw would roll her eyes at me . I always put out children’s books at Christmas too. Two of my favorites are An Early American Christmas by Tomi DePalo. And Mouskin’s Christmas Eve . I will be on the lookout for a plaid lunchbox. I can’t wait to see what you do with the baskets you found . Maybe some cedar packets might help the musty smell. That tool box is incredible. It’s so big . Must have been a giant size man using it 🤔possibly a real He Man 😉 I love the springer spaniel painting. I loved seeing your haul. And you are right the new painting is perfect for your dining room and l really like stacked paintings Have a wonderful Sun. Love and Blessings, Deb
Hey Deb, well Smithfield is the ham place with a lot of historic homes and charming shops. The city is growing and I would not mind moving there if we could find a new one story single family home…they are hard to find around here. I am so tired of the condo drama. We have a few men here that behave like middle schoolers and one is a city councilman. Dan is on the board and the drama is too much for me! Help…get me out!!! I had Christmas in mind when I bought the tool box and lunch box basket so we will see what comes out of my pea sized brain! She. I retired I left so many of my personal books in the library but I did keep a few of my boys. Glad you stopped by for a chat. I haven’t been on Instagram too much, I need to get my groove back! Take care and I am sure we will talk again soon.
I have a plaid lunchbox just like the one I had as a kid. As for your picnic basket, I think the lining was added to the inside. It was probably added to go along with the paint job on the top. I can't believe you paid $50 for that. 😱 I have one very similar, in original, near perfect condition, that I found at a Goodwill and I paid $4 for it.
Lucky you for finding one at Goodwill!! I never see them at any of the shows I go to so that is why I snapped it up. You are probably right about the lining being added. Of course now that I bought the picnic basket I will start seeing them everywhere!
Hi Susan! I just found your channel & have been binge watching all of your videos. Love your style! Your condo is so pretty! My husband has been trying to get us to move to a condo. I wasn’t so sure. If it can look like yours, then I will move. Thanks for sharing! 🤗 you found some great goodies!
Hi Shirl, thanks for telling me about yours. I wish I had been able to find one that wasn’t quite so expensive but I just haven’t had any luck so I bit the bullet and bought it.
I love the things you got Susan! The picnic basket is gorgeous and I love the tool box/tray. The picture with the wood frame and the silouette are wonderful too. I also love the laundry basket! I really like the videos you took and I always enjoy seeing the vintage markets in your area!🧡🍁
Found some wonderful things! I have a lot of children's books also and use them as you do and other ways. Just like them. Those baskets are in such good shape and look forward to how you'll use that large toolbox. What kind of wood is it? Thanks for the video.
Becki you must have read my mind because that is exactly what I am doing. I have to put one one coat of paint on the lid (those pesky flowers have been a pain to cover up) and then I will add some dark furniture wax.
Great finds. Is the Vintage Market every weekend or just this past weekend? On Main Street in Smithfield? I would love to go if it still going through the Fall. 🍁🍂🍁
No it is always the last Saturday in September on Main Street and the first Saturday in May at the fairgrounds. Smithfield does have events during the warm months in the parking lot of the bank. They are having a Christmas event Dec. 2nd & 3rd which is going to be an antique show at them Smithfield Center on Church Street.
Thanks for letting me know. I will mark my calendar for December and make a plan to go. Being on this side of the water, I never hear of events over where you are.
Hi Dee, glad to know you are a Virginia girl. The shops are on Main Street in downtown Smithfield. There are three cute places to eat in the same block as well as Wharf Hill Brewing in the next block and many cute shops to visit.
I have a lot of my boys, I have my Dr. Seuss books and my husband’s Nanny’s primer. As you can tell I love old keepsake pieces and it sounds like you do too! Thanks for watching.
Thanks Susan! Do you happen to have a different email address? I'm receiving an address not found notification for the one above. Thank you!@@athomeinsmithfieldwithsusan
