Hello! I’ve watched your channel for awhile but just started doing shadow boxes. Was the paraffin candle used as a resist or was it to seal your distress ink so it wouldn’t blend w/your paint? TIA:)
Hello! Thank you so much for watching my tutorials! The paraffin candle was used for shabby effect - step one - painting surface with first paint (future color of scuffs in my case it was dark brown), step 2 - rubbing with a paraffin (or wax) candle, step 3 - painting with next color (the main color - light blue in this video), step 4 - sanding slightly...during this second layer of paint (light blue in my video) will be removed from parts where paraffin was applied - and dark brown will show up, creating a shabby effect.
