Forgetting to reset a switch/knob can be frustrating when listening and the more elaborate your system, the more likely you'll do it. So before you curse your hifi, check the settings.
Just a quick comment on the seller. Unless he really knowingly sold a broke receiver as working, he probably had no clue how to test it. A lot of people assume because something lights up and has relay clicks, that it is working. It may even be the headphone output works as well. But he may not have actually plugged in speakers. Just a thought of course...
You could be wright, the seller sounded very convinced that it was a good thing. He didn't sound like he was selling a bad product. Anyway, It is 4 months ago and I am over it. Lesson learned and time for new video's
Because of this receiver I didn't made video's for 4 months I bought it for 350 and resell it for 50 as a broken one. I often loose money when I resell, but that's because I paid to much , and most of the time I don't loose more as 30 euro per item, sometimes I make profit. Soo I think In the long end I play even ore loose just a little bit. But this lost of 300 euro really set me back and I thought of never making video's again. It's a lot of money for just a hobby thing. I am not handy enough to repair it myself. I am not angry for the seller but angry on myself because I should test these things out before buying. I was so upset that I even didn't try to resell my stuff I had in my house already. But now after 4 months I am over it and back with video's, hoping not to repeat the same mistakes I made earlier. Maybe this video helps others in not buying expensive stuff over the post. Just drive to the seller and test out what you buy. Because a big money lost can make you loose interest in this hobby. For most of us this stereo thing is a hobby and not everybody have the financials too be a collector of many items.. They just buy 1 ore 2 items and when that item is a broken thing, the hobby is over.
Do you happen to have any connections you can share with me on where I can get sone replacement parts. I too have one of these and need a new glass cover for the radio dial. Thanks in advance
I've heard the reason relay contacts erode away is because the person who owns it turns it on while the volume is high, and the surge of energy going to the speakers arcs across the contacts inside of the relay. The contacts inside the power switch on my Kenwood KR-9940 were fused together. Boy was it fun to get them unstuck so the unit would turn off!
Sorry to hear that they ripped you off. I bought a Marantz 2275 recently from a stranger and same thing... it needed a lot of work. DC bias is way off and I had 400V DC on the speaker outputs. That is a beautiful receiver though. Lesson learned right? Now I only buy off of guys from sites where the sellers and buyers have reputation points and comments from other buyers are viewable. Thanks for the vid.
I am not angry on the guy, This is the vintage business, it's not my first DOA vintage product I buy. I think its normal. I only was disappointed the thing didn't worked because now I still not know how this thing sound.
Glad to hear you are back making videos . I really enjoy your videos and they give me a lot of insight into vintage gear . I just recently upgraded from a Marantz 1530 to a Marantz 2270 and it sounds great . Love vintage Marantz !
Yeah , There are actually two guys out here that are techs and buy them and sell them. Mine is made in Japan. Excellent condition with a walnut case in excellent condition too. He actually took the case off another Marantz and I bought it because it was the best looking one . He actually has a Marantz 2270 in a champagne color that actually looks like a rose gold but it is called champagne . Very rare as only 4,000 were made. The inside electronics are a little different too but they sound the same as a regular 2270 . He was selling for 1,500 dollars . I just did not want to spend that much money , even though it was beautiful . He even had another version Marantz in champagne color as well. Let me know if you are looking for something in particular . Another local guy out here has a Onkyo Tx -6500 mk 2 . I know you had a bad experience with that model but I am glad to hear you got past that and didnt let it ruin the hobby for you . Thanks , all the best !
21bkking Everything what have to come from america is to expensive due to transport costs and import tax. But thanks for thinking with me. I don't know the champagne color version, never saw one before, I will google and see how they look like. but 1500 is to much for 2x70w amp
