This is my General Electric portable record player/changer that I purchased at a variety shop yesterday for $15.00. It works rather well! It plays 16,33,45, and 78 speeds. It changes records as it should...even includes the original GE 45 adapter. A very neat little record player! Thanks for watching! Enjoy!

I had that same record player as a kid. I'm thinking I got it for Christmas in about 1967. It was a huge step up for a 7-year-old kid to have a record player that could do the automatic record changing. Only difference is mine was black on the outside instead of that light tan color. What a great memory seeing this.

Great find!!! GE was a great name back them and they built very good quality products back in the 70's!!!

I wish I could be lucky enough to find a record changer that works for $15. I own a few record changers but they cost more than $15. I've been playing records on changers off an on since 1978. I love record changers and I always will.

I got one of those for Christmas when they were brand new. 1969 maybe? I still have it. Needs a new needle though and the spindle is missing. The only problem was they absolutely would NOT play a stereo record. That's probably why they changed the cartridge out. It certainly served it's purpose and I'm amazed the thing still works. It was my only record player for about 10 years.

I've got one too, and the first thing I did when I bought it in mid-2001, was buy a VM 45 adaptor of this same 2 and 3/4 height, and kicked that supplied GE model right out of my sight. Then I replaced that squared off balance arm with a conventional curved-style (also a VM). The VM 45 adaptor whether the flat model or precursor round will hold and drop singles without needing the balance arm to keep them all from falling, and leave the option of the top in the stack repeat play all you want.

That is a good buy. Lucky man. A nice piece of period kit.

I had one identical to yours. It is from 1971. I had problems with it tracking when I replaced the original stylus. I finally had to resolve the problem by taping pennies on top of the tone arm over the stylus.

I got one exactly like that at an antique mall for 15 bucks. LOVE IT! I painted it black and collaged the top with I love lucy pictures (I wanted to fancy it up :D) .. I'll weep when that thing finally craps out on me.

I just bought a GE Solid St. V211G, 4 speed (orange deck, white case), should be arriving soon via eBay. My dad had one when I was a kid and it worked great. I love the turnover stylus on the arm. We'll see how/if it works with newer vinyls from today or if I need a more modern player that works better with recent releases.

I have one similar to that i think the only differences with that is that its a different color and mine is only a 3 speed. Still really cool!

I had one like this back when they were "current production" items. It's a poor excuse for a proper phonograph, but it's still a billion times as good as the crap being sold now.

How do you use the adapter to stack 45s, I have a V638 almost identical and am trying to use the charger feature but can't get the records to stack.

I bought one of these on Ebay 7 years ago and it was in great shape. I bought it on an auction for around $200. Sadly, I've only had the unit for 2 years. It ended up being stolen and purposely destroyed by some lunatic.

When you got yours, did it have a problem during the eject function with the tonearm jumping back to the last minute of the single/lp? Mine is from between 1968 and 1974,with the orange/red section where the turntable is.

I’m a total noob. But will a player designed to use 45’s play the larger full size records? I’m looking at a 45 player but don’t know if it will play the big ones.

a flip type cartridge was truly necessary, G.E. cut to many corners when a 2mil stylus used to play both types of records. G.E .never should have continued these record players.just an insult to record playing . :((((((

You either need a new stylus (needle) or the volume and tone controls need to be cleaned with contact spray or both.
