The 315 Porter Cable saw shown in this video is the classic builder’s saw. I discuss it in the following video. Be sure to read the comments. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QfqweeSWDB4.htmlsi=18mTeaB4SxqIrHMf

My family of finish carpenters have used these saws for a very long time. I got mine in 1982.With a fresh template you can make very clean finish cut. To the point the young guys are envious. Good video. Thank you.

Thanks so much for this important public service message for people who have recently acquired or inherited a classic Porter-Cable/Rockwell circular saw and find themselves completely confounded by their inability to change the blade. 40 years ago I found myself in exactly that position.😉 I recommended your video to a gentleman in Florida (FloridaRusticRepairs) who just posted an outstanding video which comprehensively details maintenance on a Porter-Cable model 146B saw. I hope both your videos encourage more people to seek out a classic Porter-Cable saw of their own though I would advise avoiding Ebay's generally inflated prices. Whether your Porter-Cable saw came from Syracuse, New York, Guelph, Ontario or Jackson, Tennessee, these top quality tools are well worth preserving and using. 😁

Hey! Who you calling vintage? That's my saw! But mine is the original Porter Cable purchased in the 70's. Still use it today. I was going to mention the grease cup but then I watched your video in the first comment. My base plate has holes I've drilled in it for attaching guides with screws. You'd have to pry it out of my cold dead hands. Loved seeing it show up here.

A channel called Florida Rustic Repairs just posted a video on a complete disassembly and reassembly of a 1960s Porter-Cable 146B saw. You might find it interesting.

When I was talking to one of my sons about replacing my old Rockwell he sent me a link to your original vid from 6 years ago. Pretty cool! Mine is a 3 to 4 years older 315-1 Type 1. It's virtually the same. From the parts diagram there's just some small variations on the depth adjustment piece between the 315-1, 346-1 and the 368-1. Mine is in pretty good shape since I decided to go back to school after a few years of framing houses which kept the abuse on the low end. A very solid saw!

I have one of those somewhere. It was my first circular saw. I think I replaced the spider bolt and nub washer at least 3 times. Back then the tool store had sets in stock. Slipping blades and awkward depth adjustments were it’s downfall. The bearings have gotten noisy so I use it with a carborundum blade to cut steel now instead of using my corded Makita’s.

I thought you were going to talk about the diamond arbor pattern which I don’t see as often on new saws - my left hand porter cable (still going strong) came set up for a Diamond Arbour - the washer for a round arbour was an accessory.

I am 22 and have been working since I was 14. I have used DeWalt, cobalt, Bosch, Milwaukee, and more... None of them have lasted as long as my porter cable, obviously I am young, but my dad has said the same thing, porter cable is incredible!

Better keep your tools, even seldom used, because of supply shortages now that will not get better!
