Picked this clock up at a thrift store many many years ago. I saw an odd-looking display while it was sitting there on the shelf off, and decided to see if indeed it was a VFD display, and to my delight, it was, so I picked it up. I LOVE any clock with a VFD display, they are so different from your standard run-of-the mill red (or sometimes green) LED display.
This was definitely worth whatever I paid for it, it's got an interesting "font" with the very thin segments of the display, and still works perfectly. It remains in service, plugged in 24/7/365.

The screen looks to be the same one that was seen on the 90s GE and Realistic branded clock radios. That has a great buzzer, one that would really startle you awake. Far better than today's clocks with the little piezo beeper.

I have the same clock but with red numbers. Mine just died tonight. Power cord got frayed. I've had this and used it for the past 20 years or so. I found your video while looking for another one online!

If it's just a frayed power cord, that's easily repairable or replaceable!

This clock would actually wake me up, unlike most modern ones with that shitty little beeper on the board. I have never found anything good today that would work nowhere near as good as these old alarm clocks with out serious modification. As a matter of fact, my father and I modified a cheep Chinese alarm clock so that when the alarm goes off, it is mounted to a 12 volt ac transformer connected to a relay which is connected to an old fire alarm bell mounted on the wall. I found it to be a great idea and it worked great for when we had that setup.

One of the China clocks I did has an absolutely PIERCING alarm. The wife uses that one and it wakes me up at 4:30 in the morning. I've learned to fall back asleep right after I hit the ceiling. Yes, there are alarm clock mods that are done, it's not unheard of, although some clocks are a lot easier to modify than others.

Hmm weird I just got the same one from goodwill for $4 and it says assembled in china as yours says assembled in Hong Kong

They may have had different factories in different locations producing the same item. Or maybe a change in the place of production mid-production run.
