Yep can only echo the rest of your viewers. Grew up around and driving 35x and don’t think I can ever remember one having a problem. Simple reliable engines. Those were the days!!
First drove my Grandfather’s 35X Multi-Power at around 8 years old. My Father restored it 5 years ago and we are still using it. Wonderful little tractor.
Oooo cliffhanger!!😆. It’s always fun (not) to try and find one problem but there’s a dozen hidden ones🤦♂. Oh and at least the mog was supposed to sound rough on start up😆
Mine could, didn t matter neutral or in gear, haven t got it anymore, traded it for a Super Major with a 6 meter construction lift and a newpainted TEA 20 this summer.
Thats is a lovely original 35X shame that's not yours.🤩 I have had the privilege of driving and using the 35's with the 3.152, 35X A3,152, and the Mad Max 35 originally with 23C Standard But fitted with a AD3 152 engine (same as the 148, the one you know Dan) brilliant starting engine!!😊 thank you for the video Dan.👍
My 414 has an identical sound. I know it to be a valve that isn’t seating right but havnt had the time to sort yet and didn’t have the time to sort it while I had head off due to tractor being in the way
Prehistoric engine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! buildeed by crazy peoples.... inevolutive technology for ....timesssssssssssssssssssssssssss.... it was very easy and cheap to put in it a pre-heating candles for exemple .......
injectors then re-do the valves then hang a rotavator or a couple of furrows on her! if it's just been tootling along pulling a roller about with the engine running just above tick-over, well you know the rest 😉
I've worked on alot of 35's, 135, 240, all the 3 cylinder Perkins. That engine deffo has another injector leaking, and I reckon the injection pump wants a overhaul, spec the fuel filters blocked, or lift pump gauze plugged or little pencil filter in tank, don't think going deeper is going to find much,
Little tip, when cold starting don't push the clutch in as it puts pressure on the crankshaft thrust bearings which won't be lubricated until the engine builds oil pressure up
The lift pumps on these are prone to leaking diesel into the oil. Indirect injection engines are never brilliant starters. Ours from new in 1963, always in winter needed heat start, Don't use aerosols in the air intake. The engine becomes "addicted" to it, as the oil gets washed from the cylinder bores, creating more wear, and therefore less compression. Looking at the way the paint had peeled off the rocker cover, this old lady has been overheating at some point in it's life.
I have a Fordson dexta with a similar engine the pre combustion chamber caps leaked bad on mine. To me that engine sounds like it has valve sealing issues
Hi this may be that the engine is glazed up in the bores old ford countys suffered from this oil would come out the exuast where they got so bad through not a enough work and not getting up to temp put it on a plough or something and pull the throttle down you may see some difference
Many great videos thanks. I think I have a 35x but I am having problems being sure. I don't know the history of the tractor. I purchased a year ago. Is there a website that will tell me more from my serial number. Any direction would be appreciated.
Is that a CAV DPA pump on the Massey, if so is it worth checking the little "top hat" filter gauze on the fuel inlet (with the long time since last service maybe the other fuel system components. tank, filters etc have a look at) on the back of the punp as theyt tend to get "gummed up" making for hard starting and poor running
Thanks Dan. Enjoy your troubleshooting adventure. Quick question. When you disconnect the battery do you have to flash the regulator to get the generator charging again? Reason asking is My new to me 58 TO35 is not charging the battery. Enjoy your channel.
You might need to polarising it by flashing the dynamo/generator and which end your battery cable is connected to the starter motor or charging system at, here's a video link to show how it's done on a Lucas system, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yvxl4mTz10c.htmlsi=ohEoA4wJOPzraX6m
