Vintage TOA Horn Speaker Still In Use!

Located on Dennis railway station is this antique TOA horn speaker from around the 50/60's. What is noteworthy about this speaker is that it contains the old TOA logo and is manufactured in the original blue colour that TOA used to distinguish its products in the company's early days. As you can hear, it's still going strong!

My old primary school uses those speakers, and they are prepared to replace them when they break, I saw some newer TOA speakers in the store room

No, these speakers have a very limited frequency. Although the message replay system is a bit noisy.

I got a smaller one in my car hooked upto my amplifier that goes to my headdeck and a switch and play siren songs on it 😂😂

Cool find. I have a badass old EV 844 vintage horn that I use for my Grundig Mini World PE 100 since it actually sounds better than the built in 2 incher.

What train station was this at? I noticed some time in mid 2015, the audio quality of the announcements decreased, now you hear loud popping sounds after most if not all utterances. I don't know why.

i know a school around where i live that uses these unfortunately this school is closing at the end of this year and the building is going to be demolished.

The only issue is I can't get on the site as it is all fenced up and there is a security guard that randomly patrols it now.

I think uni-pex or toa company of japan or international needs to make one way or two way type speakers and also talkback speakers for specific intercom system whenever he or she is calling through the admin phone consoles.

Anthony Berick Are you sure the units you've seen were this particular model of TOA horn speaker? There are many similar looking horn speaker units out there that you may be mistaking for these. This particular style with the original TOA blue colour are increasingly rare to find these days.

Nolman0001 Yes. I am interested in horn speakers too and do pay attention to the different models out there, the ones I saw are blue and are old and rusted and look like the one you have posted

Anthony Berick Well that's fantastic to know they are still used in some locations because I personally haven't seen any of them in years! I really get a kick out of seeing vintage gear still in service. It just goes to show the incredible build quality and durability of products from the time.

@@jakesullivan3377 You probably do have some equipment in the UK with the old logo. Any TOA product manufactured before 1984 will have the old logo on it.
