We used to grow tobacco here in WV. My dad would never have plowed that shallow. After seeing him plow for all those years your just scratching the top of the ground. He used an IH140 with a single bottom flip plow. No of that plowing in circles. You just turn around and plow in the same furrow in the opposite direction.
Can't tell you how much I needed to see some Plow Day. A bunch of friends using old machines to till the Earth is a welcome break to the horror of the world today. Carry on, Brother! (And I'm glad you are doing well enough to be there.)
Where I live in northern New York we would hitch that four bottom to my SuM and four bottom semi mounted plow to my AC WD45. We have loamy soils mostly.😁
Great video. Thank you. I imagine if you asked any of the guys wives where they were they would say "He and his friends are out playing with their tractors.". 🤣
It's not about the tractor, the plow, or even how the wheels hubs are dished. It is all about the operator and their skill. It all looks good and that it was fun.
Man, if I were closer, had a way to haul equipment, and was cool enough to get invited, this would be awesome! I don't know of any plow days in my area. Only time I get to shine up a plow is to plow the garden.
10 hours on a tractor beats 1 hour at work. I've even forgotten to eat when it comes to tractor time. At work i need a snack every hour 😂 I have heard stories of old timers trying to dynamite the rocks, only to break windows nearby and not phase the rock! The plow job looks pretty good for mismatched equipment--everyone seems to be adjusted right and you're subject to the bottom design. Did you take in the World Ploughing Championships when they were in Ely? I was unable to make it, maybe the next one in 50 years😊
60 years ago, and before, what we see here was a chore.. work that had to be done... hours and hours spent turning the soils. Today its a fun hobby on these beauties from the past. Nice to have friends with proper ROCK removal gear♥️👍👌👌😉
Hey Toby! Thanks for the ride. Looks like y'all had a great fun and we really enjoyed watching that beautiful earth being turned over. The way you guys work together is a thing of beauty. We really enjoyed watching the rocks get removed. We do live on a rock farm here lol.!!! So we can really appreciate the work that goes into that! Keep up the good work Toby it's a good to see you.
Remember boys, it’s not a race. We’re all here to work toward the greater good. You had a nice mix of tools for the job and it appears that all the tractors and plows held up admirably. I could smell freshly turned soil from my house. Nice set of videos. 🥸👍👀✅❗️
I love plow day! It’s amazing how much machinery they have available including big backhoes and dozers. And trucks. It also amazing how much work they do with vintage machines and plows.
Ever tried Kverneland plow? Farmers all over the world are muche the same, they come together and help each other out when needed and often without being asked to
Loved the video's of 2023 plow day. Lots of great shots and rock adventures. I have a request for 2024. Can you add "Dragging the Line" back on the drone video. That was so cool in 2021. Good to see you back in the healthy Squatch form again.
Thanks for the video Toby. Man I wish I coulda been there. Long way to travel with what I have but woulda enjoyed it. Just had my scan done today on my left tonsil and now to go to 3 consultations to see what route I wanna go with this and what will be best for my health. All I know is once it’s done I’ll be healthier than I am now and the best people on it. Hope your eye is improving as it should. Thanks again and can’t wait for the next video!
@@squatch253 thanks Toby. Hearing that one quote at 41 scares the shit out of you but after today knowing it’s all in one area and an area that can easily be treated and back to somewhat normal is a good thing. Have to hear all the routes and make my decision what I wanna go with. Thanks again Toby. I appreciate it and means more than you can imagine
I was just watching a program from MN Public Television about the Great Hinkley Fire of 1894. Just wondering if Senior and your properties were some of the land burned in that fire. Way before you and Senior's time but you seem to have a very good knowledge of the history of your area. Thanks from Lincoln county WI.👍
Man that would have fun to be there kinda wish I could have been if nothing else with my skid steere and grapple to try and move those big bolders lol I love a good challenge well done guys very well done😊
Why not just bury the large rocks a little deeper where they were located? It would not require as large of equipment, eliminate a dip in the field and reduce the the obstruction in the forest.
(Had to look this up, so posting it here for others as ignorant as me) The international 756 has a "book" drawbar power of 69 hp. Production dates '67 - '71.
No draggin the line music music this year? I seen Mr Kyle Christ around the BFR but did he not do any plowing this year? Looks like you fellers made short work of 30 acres - well done good videos!
Ok this is a California guy question I’m sure. But are those natural valleys or were the tree cleared out years ago. Just find it interesting how the dense the forest is around the land.
Hey brother i hope you're in good health and good spirits. Couple questions, what type of old mini excavator is that? And what are you guys planting up there this time of year?. Love to see that old iron doing its thing!
