Tom Hamilton put films his father shot of Springfield in the 1930s onto a DVD to preserve the images. Here are a few samples, including the public swimming pool, Lake Springfield and Franklin Roosevelt taking a train into Springfield.
Brings back memories. I went to Memorial Pool a couple times in the 50s when I was about seven years old. The old shots of Lk Springfield and the Beach House are cool too. Of course, they're still there. Seeing the beginnings of the filling of the lake on film is a wonderful rarity. So glad somebody had the technological wherewithal to do that and preserve it.
