I don’t have many box sets but I do have the voyager golden record set. I love it!!! It’s the perfect intersection of science and art. I got mine on the second print run and couldn’t be happier with it. Cheers

One horrible miscalculation of that record and player is that they assumed that (1) The Voyager space probe would be gently picked up from outer space by an advanced civilization that possesses space travel technology such as the Space Shuttle which was used in its time to pick up and repair broken satellites - and not crash and burn to the ground, in which the whole unit would be molten into a fiery ball of stuff. (2) That even if 1 were possible, that the atmosphere - gas, pressure - would be the same as on Earth. It probably wouldn't be, therefore, Chuck Berry would sound like the Chimpmunks. Thank goodness the exorbitant greed at EMI\Parlophone that demanded $100,000 for 1 Beatles track immediately knocked The Fab Four out of competition, because Ringo would be mortified knowing that out there in space, his drumming skills would be mocked by alien beings. (3) That even if 1 and 2 were met, that the instructions etched on the record as well as the messages would make any sense to the aliens. But let's say for argument's sake that they understood everything. They have also given them a map to find us, and they would send spaceships to destroy humanity and conquer our planet! It's a lot to think about. Carl Sagan's folly could cost us the Earth!
