Nice finds and at good prices, Rob! Holy cow, cool you got to see Beautiful South. I was dating a 36C when 36D came out back in the day. Oh, the mammories... errrrr ... "memories". Hope all is well! Cheers, Tom
Hi Tom I was lucky enough to see the beautiful south a lot in the 90s. 36D has always been a big favourite of mine 😀. Thanks for watching have a great weekend 👍
Hi Rob, you particularly piqued my interest in the new Shed Seven album. I guess I had written them off a little, but you have sold it, so I’ll pick that up tomorrow. I’m also looking forward to Audio Vertigo, the single sounds great. Mike
Hi Mike .. let me know what you thought of the shed 7 album. Talk of the town is my favourite track at the moment .. but there’s such energy on the whole album .. love it! I’ve ordered the new elbow album I noticed after filming this upload that it’s released on march 22nd Thanks for watching
Hi joe .. you’re the hardest working guy in the vc !👏. Thanks for taking the time to check out my video your encouragement is great appreciated 👍. Have a great weekend
Nice video and so surprised to see Shed Seven coming back! I was lucky to see them in concert in my town at the time of their 1st album, which I liked very much , I still have the T-shirt that was sold at the time 😁 ... Elbow seems to be more famous in England than in France unfortunately, it is a very good band...
Hi Chris I saw shed 7 supporting the inspiral carpets in 94,and I thought they were decent back then .. the new album sounds fresh I really like it I wasn’t expecting it to be so enjoyable. Thanks for watching have a great weekend 👍
Some great pick ups Rob. I have a soft spot for R.E.M.'s Monster. It was the one and only time a got to see them live and they were brilliant. Grant Lee Buffalo were a great support too. I'd never realised that the Buggles cover had the cord stuck into his neck! Madness were a pretty great singles band & I quite like their early albums. I've just recently got into Alvvays. Such great smart pop songs. Good haul Rob. Cheers....Ben
Hi Ben I was lucky to see REM in 85 they were brilliant ,though I wish I’d seen them in the mid 90s I’m a big fan of that period . Alvvays are a breath of fresh air I’ve got my eye on there 2nd album.. thanks for watching Ben have a great weekend 👍
Hi Rob, nice set of finds. One of my favourite Elbow albums there. Shed Seven is a name from the past. Age of Plastic is high on my want list and I agree you never see it. I'm going to a fair tomorrow so maybe...cheers Dale
Hi dale. Leaders of the free world is my 2nd favourite elbow album. I’ve ordered audio vertigo which is released on 22nd march. .. I love the energy on shed 7 album a very pleasant surprise . I’m sure you had a successful record fair today. Thanks for watching 👍
Awesome video Rob 😀👍 I love Elbow’s ‘Leaders Of The Free World’ album; it’s pretty underrated in their catalogue and cannot wait for the new album in March man 😀👌 R.E.M’s ‘Monster’ was a grower for me; but I really do love it now; some amazing tracks on there indeed ‘Bang & Blame’; ‘Tongue’; ‘Let Me In’ & ‘Strange Currencies’; yep brilliant album 👍 I haven’t listened to ‘The Plastic Of Age’ - Buggles in absolute years man?! Noel’s ‘Who Built The Moon’ is utterly magnificent mate; definitely my fav solo album of his and very much looking forward to seeing him at Piece Hall in August 😎 The Beautiful South’s debut album is amazing; I really do hope they get to reissue ‘Blue Is The Colour’ & ‘Quench’ down the line 🤞 Fantastic haul video Rob; have a good weekend bud 😀🍿🎸🎶
Hi Sam .. I’m a big fan of elbows first 5 albums in particular I’ve preordered audio vertigo I’m hoping it’s been worth the wait😃 .. I’ve never seen Noel solo fortunately I did see oasis I’m sure live he will be excellent. I’m hoping the beautiful south reissue some of there later albums I’d love them on vinyl 🙏.. thanks for watching and commenting have a great weekend Sam 👍
I have a copy of the Buggles album which I purchased when it came out. I haven’t listened to it for years. I will definitely revisit it thanks to your video. Cheers Rob. 👍
Hi Rob thanks for the reply but b Have you heard Bruce Woolley’s version of clean clean. Superb mate. Check it out if you haven’t heard it. All the best Ian
Elbow are fantastic!! A guy i knew working in a pub kept telling me to check out this band...i didn't know anything about them but once i heard their music i thought they were amazing and now have majority of their albums on CD 👍
Hi David elbow certainly suck you in and once you’re hooked it’s impossible to leave .. I’ve high hopes for their new album released in march .. thanks for watching have a great weekend 👍
Not sure I remember Monster now it's been ages...... 25 years. Shocking. Elbow from HMV for 15£ no brainer. I cannot stand HMV so you've done well to persist with them. I think we forget how huge Beautiful South were and actually good pop songs. Dark though. I'd like to hear that Eurythmics one, often seen it. Never heard Buggles either. Cheers Rob, hopefully see you in Leeds?
Hi Rob, James Griffiths sent me that Buggles album as VCLT some years back. It works well as a companion piece to the album by Yes called Drama. Trevor Horn and Geoff Downes appear on that as well, released in the same year. Cheers
Hi John .. as I said I became familiar with the buggles debut via my bedroom wall back in 1980! Eventually I have it 😃. Thanks for watching ,have a great weekend 👍
Hi Rob - I always learn something new from your videos, like Shed Seven this time around. I have no memory of them. Utter Madness is new to me too. I like The Age of Plastic. Nice to see Alvvays mentioned. Very good additions 🙂
Hi Brian I really do like that shed 7 album .. a great start to 2024 ! The joy of looking through the racks is you’re always discovering something new and that how I found utter madness…. .. love alvvays I’ll hopefully be buying their 2nd album soon .. thanks for watching have a great weekend Brian 👍
Excellent pick-ups, Rob. HMV is no more here. We have Sunrise Records. I'm not familiar with some of the artists you've shown, but they look great! Enjoy the listen, my friend
Hi Rob, i keep looking at that Buggles album but im waiting for it to come down in price a bit, ive not heard that Eurythmics album. i love Monster, a great album and Gallagher's album contains my favourite ever song of his, Holy Mountain. - Lloyd
Hi Lloyd , I think the debut eurythmics album is different to the rest of there discography I do like them more than most people seem too . It’s nice to finally own a copy of the age of plastic I thought it came out in 79 but it actually came out in January 1980 Have a great weekend lloyd thanks for watching 👍
Hi Rob - the Buggles debut is great , also like the Adventures in Modern Recording album - both not that easy to find , I bought the Elstree single and loved the B side Johnny Riding on the Monorail .
It doesn't matter if its 10 or 2 records as long as you're happy, that's all that counts Rob. People would still watch you 👍👍👍 There was one particular album there that made me smile,no prizes for guessing what it was 😁😁😁
@@robwalkerletthemusicplay Hello Rob.....yes I've got that one . If you're after a top notch comprehensive hits type collection, then get the 4 record FULL HOUSE hits type affair. It'll set you back £40-£50 but it's well worth it. A good one to have on CD is an early one called THE BUSINESS,it has a pair of Doc Martin's on the sleeve. It has hits on it,b-sides and snippets of interviews.
Hi Rob. Shed 7, that's a band we don't hear too much about on the VC. I really like Monster, I just picked up the CD from Oxfam for a couple of quid last week. I love The Age of Plastic, it's a Top 10 album for me. Their second LP is even harder to find but is also good. If you ever see the original Bruce Woolley Camera Club album, pick it up - it's got the original versions of Clean Clean and VKTRS on it. I'd forgotten about Young Disciples, that's a blast from the past. Cheers, James
Hi James .. I think age of plastic has aged really well .. I enjoyed it back in the day .. but recently I’ve been giving it plenty of listens .. I heard you mentioned rem a few times and how you’ve now become a fan .. I was lucky to see them live in 85 .. at the time I didn’t realise they would become so successful. They were excellent though. Thanks for watching James .👍
I ❤ REM. I saw them in concert for the Monster tour. I do enjoy the singles on this album. Nice to see those 1980s albums. Annie Lennox is my favorite female vocalist. Have a good day 😊.
Hi Catherine I was fortunate to see REM in 1985 it was an excellent concert .. I have a soft spot for Annie Lennox I’ve always liked her .. thanks for watching Catherine have a lovely weekend 👍
Elbows new album audio vertigo is released on 22 march on blue vinyl .,and I was mistaken the buggles album the age of plastic was released in January 1980
Hi Rob, I had no idea Shed 7 were back together. loved them back in the day of A Maxim high and Let it Ride . Saw them a couple of times - once supporting The Beautiful South! Good to know they still have some good tunes
Hi I also saw shed 7 a few times .. supporting the inspiral carpets in 94 was a great gig .. the new album is highly recommended.. thanks for watching and commenting 👍
I love Elbow. Wish I’d discovered them after I got back on vinyl. Rough Trade’s got a nice looking edition of their new album looks like? I’d love that Shed Seven album. Chasing rainbows is an amazing anthem of the age. Great Great Madness comp that I own on cassette. Got all the Eurythmics in those uniform looking CDs that came out years back. Not listened to the first one much. I do have the 1984 soundtrack but on vinyl from back in the day, and I looked at it and I’ve not treated it too kind back when I was a kid looks like. Hey, I also got that Beautiful South a few weeks ago (on vinyl) and with that cover. Love them so much. I really need to get Paul Heaton and his «solo» work with Jacqui Abbot. I have Acid Jazz records. Corduroy! 😊 All the music you show I love or want Rob 😊 Hey, got my first VCLT yesterday! Have a great rest of the week man! Cheers from Morten.
Hi morten.. I’m slowly building up my elbow vinyl collection and it will be interesting to hear their new album which comes out next month , im not sure where my original copy of the beautiful south debut album is but for £10 I was happy to buy it again… thanks for watching I look for to more videos from you in February 👍
@@robwalkerletthemusicplay Thank you Rob. I got one more Beautiful South vinyl comming my way soon, 0898. That makes it 3 on vinyl. Shame is at some stage you reach the CDs only era and won’t get any more unless they finally release them on vinyl but that seems like a bit of a stretch?
Nick pick ups Rob. I have to admit i never saw this Eurythmics album in any store or record show i have ever been to. The Bugles were huge in France back in the day, thanks for sharing Rob, take care 🙂
Hi romy thanks for watching that eurythmics is a delight when you read about the people involved it’s no surprise it’s so good 😃. Have a great weekend speak soon 👍
Hi Rob! I only have an older Elbow album on compact disc. I do love Guy Garvey's voice and should get some more. Love the cover on that Shed Seven record. Nice copy of that Buggles album. I saw a documentary on Conny Plank last year. Not sure where it is streaming now, but it's worth you seeking out. Your description of Alvvays was spot on! Love that Beautiful South album. Nice haul Rob! ✌
Hi Mike .. I’m a big fan of the first 5 elbow albums .. I’ve preordered the new album I’m hoping it’s better than their more recent albums .. I’ve had an eye out for that buggles album I was more than happy to find it .. that eurythmics album is a really discovery I’ve been playing it regularly recently.. thanks for watching and commenting Mike. Have a great weekend 👍
Hi Rob. I looked up 'Monster' on RU-vid earlier today, after you showed it in Simon's live stream. It's the same price as the single disc version. I'm tempted. There are some 'bargains' on Amazon at the moment. 'Who's Next' box set for £112?
Hi Carl .. Amazon has a few gems if you keep checking .. I noticed a kinks album for £6.99 this week but it soon doubled in price .. thanks for watching Carl 👍
@@robwalkerletthemusicplay I'm glad you realised I meant Amazon and not RU-vid! I keep a list at Amazon of records I'd like if the price is right. It's amazing how the prices on some items go up and down. I'm off to have a look at Iain's live stream. Cheers.
In the Garden is a brilliant not often mentioned album from the 80’s English Summer is such a good song.Thats a great pickup The Beautiful South in that condition.. the replacement album cover has a teddy on it and I believe is actually rarer though I could have made that up 😂 they were fantastic live in the 90’s saw them many times. Paul & Jackie are still making great interesting music.
Hi as I mentioned I was curious about the eurythmics debut and once I’d given it a listen I wanted a copy and I agree the opening track English summer is a gem .. thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Love the Age of Plastic Rob..very innovative record, Johnny on the Monorail is my favourite track, but it's all good. I was wrong in thinking the album was released at the end of 1979. In the Garden is wonderful..the first 2 Eurythmics albums are far and away the best..after that, you only really need the singles imho. I'm Never Going To Cry Again is sublime and the video was wonderfully atmospheric.
Hi rob in the garden really surprised me … I regularly stream it while I work , likewise the age of plastic . Thanks for watching and commenting rob . 👍
I love the Eurythmics- i remember first hearing Love is a Stranger when I was living in Germany and I just thought it was excellent. It’s still one of my favourite tunes. Cheers Rob !
The Alvvays album is a belter. Picked this up for £12.99 as well. Happy days. Good jangly guitars and hooky songs. I always thought Monster by REM was underrated.
Hey Rob. Having grown up near York, we always used to see Rick Witter swanning about at gigs trying to do his best Ian Brown swagger. Weirdly, last year a friend messaged me to say she'd just spotted me on TV. She had been watching a documentary about the Britpop years. In a section about Shed Seven, there was archive film from 1994 following the band around York, and in a record shop you could see me and a mate in the background. I have no recollection of the filming and hadn't seen it back in the day. That was a surprise. Cheers - Hedley
Hi hedley.. I think Rick was born in Manchester I’ve listened to a few interviews with him lately and he’s pretty good value I saw shed 7 support the inspiral carpets in 94 and always had a soft spot for them. Thanks for watching hedley 👍
Their first Number 1 album for the Sheds too, Rob. Instant Pleasures is really good too. Saw them play live in Manchester in November and they were superb!
Great mix Rob. Leaders of the Free World I need on vinyl. I'm holding off on pre-ordering the new one as I was really disappointed with the last one. Buggles is interesting. Never seen on vinyl. Cracking
Hi Andy I agree the more recent elbow album have been disappointing but I’ve preordered it I’m eternally optimistic 😀thanks for watching and commenting Andy have a great weekend 👍
The Buggles album is excellent and I love the music they came up with, amazing production by Trevor Horn as you’d expect. Their second album Adventure in Modern Recording is equally as good.
