Currently doing my home in Flooret Catura, it's holding up well so far, and scratches are easy to cover with stain touchup pen.

Flooret is definitely a great product. Was a coin toss between that and the NuCore.

I was really hoping Proximity Mills would perform better given it’s probably the safest LVP on the market when it comes to low VOCs

Ya, it had great reviews... I was surprised how easily it scratched.

How is the Nucore floor doing? I’ve been reading reviews, there’s a bunch of people who want to start a class action law suit. It seems to be popping up and not locking. I really liked the color with the Nucore flooring and can’t find anything like it.

It is pretty amazing. There are definitely a few spots that weren't installed totally perfectly and the seams aren't perfect, which is mildly annoying, but not a huge issue. I point out some of that in the video. The surface is incredible though and that's why we bought it. None of it has moved since it was installed.

I was thinking about NuCore, too. Found a color I like but I hear lots of issues with popping and clicking :S and apparently a terrible floor and decor customer service, too

Some people just immediately go the route of suing. I wouldn't put too much stock in the folks that want class action lawsuits. You have to create a secure base with minimal difference in height. Spending the money on the subfloor is just as important as the LVP.

Great video! Thank you! Does the surface of these floors scuff clothes and put holes in socks? I've been reading some of the newer floors are more abrasive and some folks are finding holes in their socks after a few months!!

I haven't noticed that. The floors actually have a nice fairly smooth feel with the subtle grain pattern. The cork back also probably helps a lot.

I got Doma which under the same manufacturing company as Proximity Mills. It takes a good bit of elbow grease to stratch it. Only complaint is that you can feel the grain texture.

Ya, I tried to find as many as I could, but wasn't able to find one that had me convinced when compared to the NuCore.

I will be installing LVP in my home within the next two months and have samples of flooret that I cannot break the edge like you did in the video. I will agree that it has dimensional look to it but my scratch test do not show anything like yours. I am not familiar with the NucCore tile that you went with but since I live in a 4 season state tile is not something I want experiment with in the winter. Obviously, I have still not made my mind up but flooret is at the top of my list at this point based on samples from Lowes, HD and Menards. Take Care and thanks for the video!

Good luck! I do think Flooret is a cool product, it was definitely my runner up. The NuCore isn't really tile, but it is definitely a very firm stone composite LVP.

The flooret lvp's tongues do snap with a good amount of force applied to a small area. Honestly, It probably isnt a big problem, I don't see how these snap very easily without it being intentional. So, I would say if the scratch test is better on the nucore, that may be more of a selling point.

Did you check to see if it's 100% waterproof as in water won't pass through it... I believe it can handle getting wet but will the water penetrate into the locking system and below?... I am about to purchase this and was searching for reviews... Thanks!
@straderranch
@straderranch 6 месяцев назад
Didn't do a waterproof test, but with how tight these locking systems are, I don't see much water getting in... We have also had several major spills already, some of which sat over night and there were no signs of water under the floor after we mopped them up.
@jsonlee01

Floors look great. I just went to the F & D store to look at the NuCore planks. My concern is that the last layer is cork. My dishwasher just had a leak so the water seeped under the laminate and ruined it. The NuCore states that it’s waterproof so I wonder how a leak like that that would affect the cork.
@straderranch
@straderranch 2 месяца назад
If you have standing water on any floor you are in trouble no matter what... With that said, we've had some pretty big spills some of which were over night and these floors held up amazingly
@jsonlee01

@@straderranch Good to know. Thanks for the reply. I realize that such a leak would require pulling up the boards to dry them out and replace the underlayment. But would the cork layer survive exposure to moisture?

It honestly looks like the day we installed it still... have dragged tons of stuff across it, tons of muddy boots, dogs running everywhere covered in mud... Looks great. Still the only issue is the few joints that were installed not quite perfectly... most people don't notice, but I can feel the very minor raised edges in a few places. If I were to do it again, I would use a more solid backer like a foam/cork backer or just put it directly on cement since it has integrated cork backer. But overall, it is great. Feels good on bare feet too.

I evaluated Flooret signature LVP. It has the 40 mil wear layer, which is awesome, but also made the floor look a bit plastic. Still a fantastic floor though. Check the description for discounts on Flooret!

Great information. What underlayment didntou use? I am installing nuCore soon and I am thinking quiet walk LV , 1.4mm on concrete subfloor. Not sure if this cork backing is same as the 2mm pads other brands cone with, or I would just use vapor barrier and call it a day.
@straderranch
@straderranch 8 месяцев назад
I just used plastic vapor barrier, the cork does a good job of giving the floors a slightly softer feel, but they still have a fairly firm tile-like feel

@straderranch , goodnto know, Did you have any dips or low spots ? Hopeing these nuCore joints are strong enough not to come apart if the recommended 3\16 over 10 foot tolerance I am going with.
@straderranch
@straderranch 8 месяцев назад
Nothing very substantial... one small raised area around a floor outlet, but the slab was brand new and fairly level. These planks are very rigid, but if you have a low spot, you are probably going to feel it when you walk on it... I would probably pour some self leveling concrete or something to get it as smooth and level as possible before installing. I considered that for my build, but didn't because it would have taken too long!

Hi forgot to ask, did you floor box say made in usa? I recently purchased a newer color nucore lvp , not performance , and it is heavier than the other planks at floor and decore. Plus this color I picked jasper oak was the only color in the store that the box said made in usa, weird. Also the performance line you bought is definitely heavier due to stone core, just stange that the color I picked was heavier and made in usa compared to others at same price. Good video!

how is the cork on the back of the NuCore waterproof? Doesn't cork absorb water?
@straderranch

I would say it is waterproof for large spills, but I certainly wouldn't use it in a shower. The tongue and groove on these planks are very tight, so water can't really get through them down to the cork.

Does buffing out the scratch on Flooret get rid of it? for such a big wear layer you would think it would be fine still actually.
@straderranch
@straderranch Год назад
The problem with buffing is you start to wear down the texture of the wear layer... I would think it would start to look pretty bad
