Thanks, helpful to get a visual demonstration. You must have done a good job to have avoided the usual comments from pro's telling you how you did everything wrong ;)
I actually replaced two pieces that were damaged. The video is a look at how easy vinyl siding comes apart and goes back together. The idea is not to be intimidated by the process. I have replaced hundreds of pieces this way and it is the same general process every time.
The tools are probably the same just a different color handle. Most time you can unlock and re-lock the siding with just your fingers. Thanks for the comment.
It seems like no siding professional can answer my question wow. My question: I need to meet one side of the wall with the other side in the middle is a breezeway so I need to come up on one side and up the other side but need both to meet at roof ridge of the breezeway. How can I do this???
Good eye. It appears he replaced the wrong piece. At the end, the damage was gone. Seems like they must have realized their mistake and fixed it "off camera". One clue is that he was reaching much higher at the end near the dryer vent.
I live In Utah and have to have my siding patched because of wind damage but the people that I have called said they won't do a patch job it needed to be all replaced so they can make money. My question is if it only needs a patch job but your still getting paid then what's the problem. I would just charge for an estimate and or a flate rate fee to repair then. I Don't get this, ok maybe it's not worth doing smaller jobs because you don't make enough but in business every little dollar adds to the bottom line! Any suggestions I'm not a handy man or a diy guy.
+Daniel Butler Keep calling around. I'm sure you will find someone who does repairs. Try a handyman company. If he is not sure how, have them watch the video.
The easiest way is to use a level to mark a level line over the top of the breeze way and then measure down equal distance to start your siding. Keep checking the distance to the line as you bring up both sides to insure you will be level when you meet at the top.
We did not install this job but actually it was installed very well. The panel flapped because it is a triple 6" insulated panel and does not allow for nailing in the middle of the panel.
