@@threadmodeembroidery2374 yes!! Thank you for this. What kind of machine do you have? I might have the same which will help me learn how to use mine even more
Wow thank you, that is quite the compliment 😊 I really want to help people succeeded, I remember how frustrating it was 13 years ago for myself trying to figure things out and not having video's to visually see how it was done.
Hello there! I'm a zebra too! It's really amazing to recognize my hands in a video, if that makes sense. Thank you for such a well-explained tutorial 😊
The bean stitch settings come from the digitizing. They are a triple stitch and typically they are set to 2.5 to 3 mm depends on each designer. It’s not something that can be set in the machines.
Hi I use Wilcom Hatch. A lot of softwares will allow for some adding of shapes. I do edit the shape around all my designs, this is so I can get the smoothest lines I can, and also help the stitches regulate size.
@@threadmodeembroidery2374 Hello! I have Hatch 3. Are you saying that I can add a CUSTOM bean stitch around a shape I make in Hatch 3? If so, how do I do I do this? I'm a newbie with Hatch. I have a multi-needle machine, so I'm not sure how I would go about holding both the upper and bobbin thread and holding those threads before I start the stitching. 🤔 Also, great tips about running the placement stitches for the first step and also for the placement of the snap/eyelet WITHOUT the thread!! That is an AWESOME idea!! Thank you very much. Linda
What do you have on your fingers. I have bad arthritis and I was just wondering if that helps what you have on your fingers. Or what those tiny things are used for?
Thanks for the great video! Where do you get your marine vinyl? I want to make some keychains for Christmas presents but I don’t need massive yards of marine vinyl. Thanks for any help.
Hi, I get the white marine vinyl I use at a store in Canada called Fabricland. I will use the one from Joann's in the US sometimes if I don't have the regular one in stock. The vinyl needs to be stuck well to the stabilizer especially if it's white, white can be a fussy one to use.
I notice you put in washer in back I never see washer involve with kits. that strange but it look better than without I wonder there any washer around?
Yes, I was so happy when I found eyelets with washers ! I have used different versions, you can get the Dritz version at Joann, I have linked to the one I used in the description however they are painted/colored and will scratch if you're not careful when putting on key chain. Here is a link to what you're looking for... www.amazon.ca/CRAFTMEmore-Gunmetal-Grommets-Eyelets-Washers/dp/B06ZYQVCZC?psc=1&SubscriptionId=AKIAILSHYYTFIVPWUY6Q&tag=duc12-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B06ZYQVCZC
How do you keep your marine vinyl from tearing when you do a satin stitch on it? I have been trying to embroider on marine vinyl and i don't know if my needle is tearing it or if it's my tension or what.
Hi, if you are finding that the vinyl rips when making things add a layer or two of cut away stabilizer floated under the hoop while stitching and cut the excess away before adding the backing piece so it won't show in the edges. Also NEVER use a leather or jeans needle it makes holes that will always rip. I use a 75 or 80 ballpoint in a lot of my vinyl embroidery stitching.
lol, yes that does look strange. It is my stitch picker and I was using it to keep my hoop above the base so it would slide well. My machine is very finiky and at that time it apparently wanted the hoop to be "floating" higher. I used the tip to add just a bit of height.
Hi, I buy my marnie vinyl from Fabricland, and their online store is fabricville so you may find the marine stuff there. I also buy from Joann's in the USA and those are the two places I get my marine vinyls.
Finger splints are for a ligament issue in the fingers to help hold them straight. I use a variety of tape, scotch, painters, and medical tapes like the ones they use to hold tubes to arms (the paper kind works amazing). I also use a lot of the 505 spray but it makes the hoop sticky and messy.
I was curious as well. I have such pain in my knuckles when using my hands, was wondering if they were something made to ease the pain of use. I’ve tried the gloves and such but have yet to find relief. If no one had asked yet, I was going to hoping it would be something I could try.
Hello good afternoon, I love your video tutorial, I would like to be able to use your video in my store to explain the correct way to use the embroidery design files that I make, I would only post the link and the playback time of your video is yours for that I would use your channel as a reference, I congratulate you for the good work you do in the videos
Hello, you need a digitizing software to add any stitches. The bean stitch is also called a triple stitch and all digitizing softwares have them installed.
It was a Pellon shapf;ex s101, however you can use an iron on fusing of your choice just make sure to test it first you want one that quickly/easily fuses. This is the one I used.... www.amazon.com/Pellon-SF101-Shape-Flex-Cotton-Fusible/dp/B008UDT0ZK/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=pellon+shapeflex+sf101&qid=1580484608&sr=8-3
I actually don't have any settings that I need to do, I just don't add thread to the top part. My machine is older though, 12 years. There must be a bypass though or something. It's a great trick to use, makes tearing away the stabilizer so much easier, and I also use it to make paper templates so I can cut material easier.
Needle size depends on thickness of material. I like to use a 75/11 ball point with vinyl, and sometimes I use an 80/12 ballpoint. The stitches can be finer with the smaller needle, due to the hole size it punches into the material, but thread can also get shredded easier with the smaller needle hole at such fast stitching. The best idea is to try different needles with your threads and see what works best with the materials you have. Also a side note : Never use a leather needle or jean needle with vinyl, as they cut the vinyl instead of just making a hole.
Hello, I'm new to Machine Embroidery on vinyl and I really want to do some of the snap tab key chains. Can you please tell me what is the best needle to use for embroidery on the vinyl ? Thank you in advance 🙂
Hi I use a 75/11 on vinyl, just a regular ballpoint needle. However, It will all depend on the machine you have and the vinyl you have as to what needle will work best for you. What I do recommend is testing your needles in your material and absolutely do not use a jean needle or leather needle because they will make larger cuts as opposed to punched stitches.
@@threadmodeembroidery2374 Thank you so much for the information. I'm actually addicted to machine embroidery now and have 2 machines. I have a Brother SE625 and learned quickly that I wanted something bigger for larger designs and embroidery quilting. I have since bought a used Pfaff Creative 4.0 that has the larger embroidery unit and I can embroider up to a 360x350mm area. I think I will use the Brother for doing the snap tabs mostly
I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but I do play with the tension on my machine depending on the thickness of my vinyl's. Sometimes I need to tighten the tension and sometimes I need to lower the needle.
@@hooked_fish I can be so many different things causing the breaking. I suggest starting with the thread, once I switched to Sulky or Gunold or Madeira my machine was happier. Then the right needle will be a big help, I often use a ballpoint 75 or 80 on vinyl, but if that isn't working on that specific day I'll switch to an embroidery needle (never jeans or leather needle they cut the holes to big on vinyl and it can fall or tear apart too easily) Sometimes the design can be too dense for vinyl's, adding some cut away stabilizer under the design can help with the dense designs. Also just playing with the tension up or down until you get the right setting for your machine. It can be a pain with the trial and error.
Hi, great video, question, your back stitches are beautiful, I’ve been doing key fobs, my Janome 14000 does not stitch the back well. Besides adjusting tension is there anything else you suggest?
Hi, I have also struggled like so many others with the back stitches playing nice. It really is a lot of testing and playing around to figure out what will work on your machine. You can use some light plastic WSS on the back, or tracing paper before stitching that will help it move across the single needle machines. I have also played with the tension and my machine is troubled by thicker vinyl so I had to tighten the tension for some of my vinyl's.
I use a 75/11 or 80/12 ballpoint for vinyl. I think needle size will really depend on machine and what your machine prefers. No leather or Jean or sharps for vinyl they cut into the material to much.
I use a Husqvarna Viking Topaz 20 an older model I've had it for 12 years. It is temperamental though, as a lot of machines are and I curse it all the time for shredding thread.
I just get them from Amazon, but sometimes I order off Etsy. It all depends on what you are doing with them, I mostly just give to kids. If you plan sell them just get the better quality ones so the clasp part doesn't break to quick.
Hi, It's a 13 year old Husqvarna Viking Topaz 20. At the time it was expensive at $3,000 CAD. I suggest getting a machine from a local vendor because they always need maintenance/fixing and the local person is an excellent resource for embroidery and are more helpful to deal with.
I use a variety of scissors for different things. I like small spring loaded snips for the tails and thread trims, and I use Kai for cutting straight edges on vinyl, I use Ginger for curved sides on cutting vinyl, and I have a pair with serrated edges that I prefer for felt.
@@threadmodeembroidery2374 which specific Gingher curved scissors do you use to cut curves in the vinyl keychains? I have 4 inch Gingher curved scissors, but I can't seem to get a clean cut because the white backing on the vinyl shows and the edges aren't even. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. 😢 Is there any chance you could please do a quick video on how you cut curved areas in your vinyl keychains with your Gingher scissors? Thank you very much.
