I have been amazed by Viola Davis for years. What an amazing actress. As soon as I heard that Viola was going to work on Shonda Rhimes project "How To Get Away With Murder" I knew she would win an Emmy. And when I saw her performance in Fences I knew that she would win the Oscar. And Jeffrey is right. The scene with Viola and Meryl in Doubt was nothing short of spectacular. It was like a Master Class in acting.

She’s not being an advocate just stating what she believes in and isn’t forcing that on anyone else. You are clearly resentful to God or a higher power or whatever but with her faith she believes that she was put on this right path by God and those actions got her to winning that Oscar; that isn’t discrediting herself just uplifting who she believes is responsible

@@shelbygwiza9861 no offense but your assumption is laughable at best. I clearly don't believe in god or any supernatural entity so how could I be mad at god? It's clearly a bunch of fairytales and it floors me how people do not question all the horrible and cruel things god did in the old testament. I mean, honestly, wake the fuck up! There are plenty of professions out there celebrating what it means to live a life--people who work really hard to celebrate and foster the lives of ordinary people. She deserved that Oscar for Fences but sorry, she was in no way a supporting role in that film. Should've been nominated for Best Actress instead (which if she were, I think she would still win), so that Michelle Williams could have gotten that award for Supporting Actress instead. She was amazing in Manchester by the Sea

I understand you, but she was the main actress in Fences, but she wasn't for the storytelling. It alredy happened, for exemple Jennifer Connelly for A beutiful mind.

It’s very difficult for a black actress to win the Best Actress, only Halle Berry did it, the rest just won the Supporting. The Academy would rather give Meryl Streep her 3rd Oscar than give Viola her first 5 years ago.

I agree, Viola should have been nominated for Best Actress, her role was so captivating. The other women in the category were great too, but they didn't deliver the way that Viola did. Viola's next movie will becoming out this year. She will be the starring role as "Harriet Tubman" .. I have a strong feeling that she'll win "Best Actress" for that role.

Viola is representing Black people, especially African Americans. She is not up there representing people of color, nor little brown or Hispanic kids (the ones who are racist against Blacks like Viola). Stop trying to create a fairy tale to make yourself feel better. Hispanics, for the most part, are racist & colorist.

Meryl won because of Campaigning by Miramax and Harvey Weinstein. Well that didn't age well. But she won the Oscar mostly because of her work not being recognised since Sophie's Choice.
