The pochette sounds incredible, Cheryl! You never cease to amaze and inform. It’s inspiring to see you work on a less than optimal instrument and make it the best it can be.

The pochette has really great tone for a smaller instrument , love hearing you play it .

Thank you Darrell. It is surprising how big the tone is for that little guy! Hope you have a great week.

Psalm 34:18 is the Hebrew Minute! Enjoyed learning about Stradivarious (sp). Interesting that he saw his work as a calling from God to make the best violin. Glad to see your bees are doing well! Interesting violin you are working on. Can't wait to see more changes you make on it. Hope you have a good week!

Yes, thank you for finding the Hebrew Minute! Strad had many spellings of his name so you are bound to get it right! I hope you have a blessed week and thank you for commenting!

The 'special' violin is interesting. It looked better inside than I expected. The pegbox was a wreck! Your little pochette has a big voice and sounds good. It was nice of James Austin to drop by your shop. Thanks for the tip on the proper way to hold the bow while tensioning it - I didn't know that. That's a busy little beehive. Stupidicus.

Thank you Tim! I am looking forward to finalizing the special violin and hearing its voice. I hope you have a blessed week and less heat out there. All the best!

Good to see the pochette finally set up and playing. I think the ribbons give it a jaunty air which suits an instrument for dancing to. Any idea why the varnish is taking so long to harden? God bless you and have a great week!

I am not certain why the varnish is being so slow but maybe it is time to make a new batch of varnish. I am glad it is set up also! Thank you for commenting and hope you have a great week!

Is it ever possible to replace a violin top? Mine was damaged, so I thought about it, but the idea was frowned upon. Could the maker of the experimental violin have made a top from a back by mistake?! The little pochette is so pretty, with a full violin sound. Reminds me of a canary, with a tiny body and tremendous volume, singing away. Does it have only a 1/4 size chin rest?

Yes, replacing a top can be done. It is quite expensive but if it is from a real maker and not a fake label, it is discouraged. You can always cleat it and make it sound very good. It take away the value when it is replaced. I think that the maker of the experimental violin was having some fun experimenting. At least I hope he was!!! Thank you for commenting and I hope you have a wonderful week!

When you remove one or more of the bee's sections how do you extract the honey and do you keep the comb? Info on the process and the saving of the honey.

I need to record myself taking out the honey but until then I will just tell you what I am doing. We have those plastic liners so I just scrape all the comb and honey into a bucket that has a spout on the bottom. Let it separate for a couple of days and then pour out the beautiful honey! It has turned out to be easier than spinning it out and much less mess. Thank you for asking and hope you have a great week!

Have you tried using a vacuum to pull the glue through the crack?
@Violinsforu2
@Violinsforu2 3 месяца назад
@@sandrawillits6475 I haven't tried a vacuum although I will keep it in mind in case I should need to. Maybe because the violins are so thin, I am able to pump it through with my fingers and it works very well.
