This piece is... criminally underrated!

I heard this on the radio on my way home from work and I realized this work surpasses all my previous classical favorites. The funny part is that I had never heard of the composer until then, but he became an instant favorite!

Hello. That's so great to hear. This is one of my favorites of his. It seems that classical radio has been playing more of Bologne's music which is exciting. Especially because a Bologne movie will be in theaters this April. There's plenty more of Bologne's music on my channel. Thanks for stopping by!

The first movement is one of my favorite pieces from the classical (pre-romantic) period, and I dare say I prefer it to anything of Mozart. Those runs at 2:04 get me every time!

Yes. Light, balanced, perfect in its simplicity. Indeed the runs. Everything enjoyable about the period.

The Gospel of Vitality! This is what Le Chevalier is all about. This is probably the best of him I have heard. Maybe he was the fastest and probably the loudest violinist in France. So be it, he had to be. Le Chevalier was truly amazing!

I often think of what it would have been like to attend one of his concerts. What do you think of this one? VC Op.3 no.1 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ArfZYtW9V7Y.html This one sticks with me. I'm not sure what it is. Maybe it's the way Tafelmusik brings it to life.

Op 3 no 1 is the first Le Chevalier concerto I heard! A very nice piece and Linda Milsted and Jeanne Lamon do a fantastic job! I love their Canadian documentary on Le Chevalier. Linda plays a period violin therefore allowing us to hear the tonal palette which Le Chevalier knew. I wonder how much of his music was really lost in the French Revolution. We still have a fair amount.

@@simonscott2134 we dont know how much music was lost and it is a myth that napolean burned his music, although it may have happened. Undoubtedly, many of his operas are sadly lost. I'm sure they're all wonderful. The one surviving on is called L'amant Anonyme, and tafelmusik did do couple recordings of its ballets and its overture.
