We continue working on the mystery violin, work the cello, carve a cello back in 2 minutes, sharpen on the Tormek, open a Lev HaOlam box, also Freddie likes to chat and we have a Hebrew Minute. Hope you enjoy!
Enjoying the mystery violin refurbish. I'm on the edge of my seat wondering how itwill turn out. And that new violin is beatiful. I really loved the tone before the vanish. Waiting for that reveal, also.
Looks like another busy week in the shop. The mystery violin sure had a rough life - it's neat that you are giving it a second chance. Your new violin is gorgeous! Hope to see more of the bees! Take care, Stupidicus.
I almost have that mystery violin ready to play!!! I hope it doesn't break the internet with its sounds!!! I am so glad you want to see more bees because there might be more! Thank you for commenting and have an awesome week!
Thanks for another wonderful and interesting video. Freddie, we always love to see the bees. It is very interesting. Your new violin is so beautiful, especially compared to the mystery violin, but I'm sure your mystery violin will come out nicely. That cello is so much work! Interesting things from your box from Israel, too. We've had a warm couple of days but now it's supposed to rain. We'll see! Have a great week!
Thank you for your kind comments! Freddie might have more bees to show again! We just saw a huge swarm fly through the yard! The cello is a lot of work. I guess I will have to conquer that back and get on with it!!! Hope you have a wonderful week ahead and thanks again!
Looks like those carpenter bee traps did their job this year. Ours are still hit and miss, the carpenter bees chew through the cedar pergola like it's nothing. That cello work looks like a serious workout already. Good luck with it!
Yes, those carpenter bees need to come down and work on the cello for me!!! If only I could train them to do it right! Thanks for commenting and have a wonderful week!
Is that a particularly docile bee colony, since it can be handled without protective equipment, or is it more down to the skill of the handler? Great to see the continued progress on the 'cello and the mystery and new violins. I really hope the mystery violin turns out well - it deserves to after all your patient work. Every blessing to you.
Regarding the bees, we put it to the test this morning. He got a new set of Italian bees and also worked a new swarm that arrived last Friday. He did not get any stings, so I admire his skill and bravery. He says that you just have to be gentle. Thank you for your kind comments. I pray you have a wonderful blessed week ahead!
Great video as always, glad to see you making progress on the Mystery Violin. and I got my question answered below if you made your own varnish etc. would be interesting when you get the mystery violin playing to hear it compared to a good sounding one? also how did you get out all the scratch marks. scraping? I thought about rubbing them out with four ought steel wool? yes? no? thanks for sharing. ECF
Hi Mr Foley! Thanks for commenting! That is a great idea to play the mystery violin with a good one!!! I am curious what it will sound like! I am still working on the scratch marks, but I am using a scraper. The scratches are really deep so I may leave some of them. Thanks again and hope you have a wonderful week!
@@Violinsforu2 You are very welcome. I love your videos, talent and organizational skills. Plus you are adorable ;o). Maybe I need to visit your early videos to see if you reveal how you acquired this wonderful talent. I live in Rockford, IL. I wish you the merriest and most happiness of the holidays !
Do you use actual varnish or just call it varnish.....I know sometimes people just say varnish generically when it could be poly, lacquer, shellac or another coating.
Yes, I make my own oil varnish from boiling venice turpentine and linseed oil. We want a varnish that will not encase or penetrate but rather move with the vibrations. Thanks for asking. I hope you have a wonderful week ahead!
Hi Alvin, we are still working on a new website which is almost finished, but you can contact me at violinsforu@gmail.com There we can chat and also I can get you further information. Thanks for commenting! Look forward to your email!
